I've got a couple of Kobo related projects on the go at the moment whilst I take a break from Kindle stuff - biggest one is helping a charity to refurb a large number of devices that they've had donated to them and I also help my local repair cafe with e-reader related issues.

Morbid is probably the right word - here's what ~20 unrecoverable (severe water damage) Kobo PCBs look like

I see this thread so often that I wonder when I will need to ask for an image for my glo hd.
As my reader is still working well, how can I create an image by myself today to use it later?
Is it «only a simple copy» of all folder from the reader ot any specific format?

Not quite. You would have to remove the uSD card from your Glo HD and use the correct tool to make an image. See the Memory Upgrade Mod Guide (With Pictures) thread for more information.

Hi all,
I'm sorry, but I need some help. For a couple of day I try to bring my mother's Kobo Glo HD back to life. The display seems to be frozen - it shows the last book and the headline "Ruhemodus". The battery ist fully charged - I tested with a multimeter. I tried all kinds of reset but nothing happend. When I plug the reader to my computer it is recognized (the plug-in-sound is played) but I can't see it in the explorer.
I've no idea what the problem is, but I hope flashing an image to a new SD Card will solve it. I just tried to copy my original card to the new on, but the situation did'nt change. So I would be very thankful if somebody could send me an image from a working Kobo so that I could try if that will help.

Many thanks for the link! I wrote it to the new SD card but unfortunately the Kobo ist still dead. There must be another problem ... I'll try to disassemble it and search for an error...
