Device has not been updated. Connected to Wifi and registered w/ Amazon, but blocked updates via the recommended method.

If your KOA2 has been updated it will no longer be able to be jailbroken with the current method.

I have a unit that was stock 5.9.2.0.1 with no update. Is their anyway for me to know if it's an older unit that can be jailbroken on that firmware vs a newer unit that can't?

In the case of the KOA2, the information on 5.9.2.0.1 is the result of my typo'ing the version number.

Translation: Can not currently be jail broken.

Followed the directions, jailbreak worked without a hitch. No problems installing bridge/hotfix, and usbnet-0.21.N.

Updated manually to update_kindle_all_new_oasis_5.9.4.bin.

Bridge code successfully ran (or at least the message popped up indicating such). Jailbreak still appears to be in place...everything looks great. Thanks!

How do you think, is the newly bought KOA2 with 5.9.2.0.1 shipped directly from a factory, or is it a sort of returned (refurbished) one?

I have had several reports that brand new Kindles are shipping with 5.9.2.0.1
There have been two people who tried to jb those, without success.
No harm, but no success.

Which reminds me - I really need to push the update to the directions that corrects the firmware versions it will work with.
