Sorry, but, I cannot help. I have sent an image for the Aura Edition 2 before I read the post properly. This won't help you. And I cannot help for the Aura H2O Edition 2. It has fixed internal storage and no image has been created for it. And there is no way to restore it for a non-working device.

The best I can suggest is to do a factory reset using the instructions on https://help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/artic...-H2O-Edition-2.

Hello, I would like to request an image for Kobo Aura 2 Edition. I was updating it and now it's not working, I can't get it to go past the loading screen. I want to try to revive it. Thanks in advance

I think I bricked my device by removing the micro sd card without turning it off completely. I tried to load the .bin I created from the ereader when I first got it but got no new behavior when I tried to power on with that image on the new card. does anyone know if this image can help?

If you took the image properly, and then restored it properly, it should be work. As I've messed up doing both of those steps, I'm not surprised when others do as well

What is the behaviour now? Does it turn on at all? Can you try a factory reset?

And it is probably worthwhile trying the image. But, do you have the first or second version of the device? They use different images as they have different CPUs. Externally they are the same. The serial number can tell you which it is. In this, 7th character of the serial number will be a 0 for the first version and 2 for the updated version. If you don't have that, you can probably tell from the CPU, but, I don't know how to identify it. This was originally discussed here. There may be something in the posts around that to help.

Thanks for your quick response davidfor. I might have taken the image from the card incorrectly despite following a guide from here. I'm just skilled like that.

Currently it shows the cover of the last book I was reading. When trying to power on the LED flashes quickly and then stays off. Nothing on the screen changes during this. While plugged into my computer windows does detect the ereader turning on and off from what I can tell by the connection/disconnection chimes windows plays when I press and hold the power button.

I have the first version with the 0 in the S/N's 7th character. Although I cannot access the menus currently, the serial number is printed on the side of the front half of the body. In case anyone in the future needs to find it in the same situation I am in.

While it's probably to late, you should try a factory reset using the second set of instructions on https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kob...Aura_Edition_2. For the seconds step, the screen won't change, so hold the power button down for about 20 seconds to ensure it is off.

Awesome, my kobo is back up and running.

After following the guide Memory Upgrade Mod Guide (With Pictures) to get the same tool to write the image, I inserted the MicroSD back into the slot and held the power button. I was welcomed with a boot and setup screen.

Thank you for your posts and help even so long after the thread was created.

Hello, I think my Kobo Aura edition 2 was bricked while I was updating it. There was some sort of problem with the wifi and now every time I try to turn it on it doesn't go past the loading screen. I have tried everything and it doesn't seem to respond. Could you send me the SD card image so I can try this way? My e-reader isn't that old and I would hate to have to replace it. Thank you

I did all to reset it manualy but nothing function. I don't know if i can put the official firware on an external SD card but don't know how to make it boot from it.

@ayme08: You need to enable Private Messaging. This is in the "Edit Options" of the control panel. If this isn't there, it has to be added somehow. You can try posting in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=319819 to ask it to be enabled, or contact a moderator.
