Maybe it's an image type that isn't supported. Try enabling logging in the configuration, and looking at the log file afterwards. It might say why the image couldn't be displayed.

Maybe i need to modify "extensions.cfg"? I have notice another "problem" too: On my computer, i can rename compressed file as i want, it work (for example a "zip files", i can rename the file in .cbr or .cbz, i can read it on my pc) But , in the Inkpad, the .zip files need to be rename in .cbz files , and the .rar files need to be rename in .cbr files, if not, it doesn't work (error message "not zip files") the problem is that all my files (.zip/.rar/ .7z) are rename only in .cbz on my computer, and i don't know what program was used for compressed (winzip, winrar or 7zip). So if i copy all my manga file .cbz, maybe only 40% will works. i don't know if you understand what i mean, and if it's possible to find a solution or not about that? ps: sorry for my poor english langage ,i'm french...^^ |

I understand you perfectly. There are two problems here. First, the 7zip files will not work because pbimageviewer does not support them. Secondly, files whose names end with ".zip" don't work because the Library app will not pass them through to pbimageviewer.app. I think it automatically handles the .zip and .rar files itself, and ignores what is in the extensions.cfg file. .zip files should be renamed to .cbz, and .rar to .cbr.
Renaming everything to .cbz should be okay for the ZIP and RAR files, as long as the "magic number" inside each file is good. The contents of RAR files should start with "Rar!", and the contents of ZIP files should start with 'P', 'K', 0x03, 0x04. Those files will be autodetected and opened properly. I'm afraid that there is nothing I can do about the 7zip files right now. You will have to convert them to ZIP or RAR files yourself if you want to read them with the current version of pbimageviewer.app. I'll take a look at adding support for 7zip archives, but it depends on if there is a library available for Linux, and if its API supports the necessary operations for the viewer. |

thanks for your quick answer rkomar.
Ok, i understand for 7zip files. It's not a problem for me, i can convert them to zip or rar. for the second point, i think i dont understand you. you said :"files whose names end with ".zip" don't work because the Library app will not pass them through to pbimageviewer.app / .zip files should be renamed to .cbz, and .rar to .cbr" But after you said:"Renaming everything to .cbz should be okay for the ZIP and RAR files" All that i used , is only .cbz files (but they are Zip and Rar files before renaming). Yesturday, i tested to open some of .cbz files but only some works , not all. So i try to rename the files doesn't work to .cbr files, and they works good. so i think, i need to check all my files for know if they are Zip or Rar files and rename them as you said ".zip files should be renamed to .cbz, and .rar to .cbr" Right? |

To see the type of the archive file, the program first looks at the "magic number" at the start of the file to see if it can identify it. If that fails, then it looks at the suffix of the file name. If your RAR files are not recognized by their magic number and have to have the suffix changed, then maybe they have a different magic number at the beginning than is being looked for. In my code, I am looking to see if the first four bytes in the file are "Rar!" (i.e. 0x52 0x61 0x72 0x21) to identify it as a RAR file. Can you see if the files that need to have their suffix changed to .cbr have a different magic number at the beginning?

Sorry, I misunderstood your original post about the covers. I thought you meant the very first image didn't display when you opened the file in pbimageviewer, but when I go back and re-read your post, it is perfectly clear that you are talking about the home page of the Inkpad.
I don't know if there is anything I can fix for that, since it has nothing to do with pbimageviewer. I assume that the system program that scans the device and loads information into the library database doesn't know how CBZ/CBR/... files are structured, so it doesn't know how to extract a thumbnail view of the first image. That is something that PocketBook themselves would have to fix. As for the magic numbers, I checked myself and I see that there is a bug in the program. I'll upload a fixed version later today. (okay, it's uploaded now) Last edited by rkomar; 12-25-2014 at 02:56 PM. Reason: Added note about new version being uploaded |

Yes, it's normal, it happens with all e-ink displays and it's called ghosting. You can get rid of it by just leaving a white image for some time. Also doing full page refreshes (you can adjust that in settings under Advanced Settings -> Complete Page Refresh) often and not leaving mostly black or dark pages for a long time helps to avoid this effect.

I noticed the same problem on my Inkpad, as well. I see it not only with pbimageviewer.app, but also with ordinary PDF and EPUB files as well. It seems to be a bug in the operating system or hardware. My PocketBook 902 and 623 don't show this problem. It would be good if PocketBook could fix it in a new firmware release. All we can do to "fix" the problem is to do something to make the page refresh (e.g. change the screen orientation, or tap to get the main menu and then tap somewhere else to close it, or go to the next page and come back,...).

It's probably crashing trying to load the next image after 018.jpg. Can you unpack the archive on your computer and look at that next image and see if it is corrupted? The images are ordered alphabetically in pbimageviewer.app, so it may not be the next image in the archive.
If you delete the settings file system/state//Mangas/KARATE Tome 1.cbr.af0 then the program will start at the first page again. You can then look at the Table of Contents and see the name of the image file that comes after. |
