Hi Arakin
Mine did have a shipping date on my order page but now it's gone which i am optimistically taking to mean that it's kind of on its way ..
i'm still waiting will start the 'anxious anticipation' again early next week!

In my book this means that they are - forgive me the harsh words - cowardly and desperately trying to cover the fact that they are late in shipping.

Don't get me wrong, I am not upset about the late shipping. Everybody is allowed to be late - especially if being on time depends on things that are out of control (in Bookeen's case the factory producing the devices).

However, I would have welcomed an e-mail telling us customers as much.

Here is an email I just received from their customer service.
------------------------

Dear Customer,

Here is the status about orders which did not ship yet.

1) Cybook shipments will restart next Monday (December 10).

Orders ship on a first-come, first-served basis.

In other words, people who ordered late October will have their package flying in the corresponding planes Monday night.

2) We expect to ship all orders issued in November over next week.

December orders will follow and we will have more information about more recent orders by the end of next week.

In all cases, as indicated, you will receive your package before Christmas.

3) International shipments are handled by our partner FedEx in international priority mode.

You will receive a tracking confirmation email as soon as your package is handled by FedEx.

FedEx will provide you with a delivery date and you will be able to follow your package(s) in real time.

4) On our web site, in the order list section, there was a December 5 fixed date mention.

This test hard-coded value should not have appeared on the retail site and has been removed yesterday.

The red warning header indicating the estimated shipping date is of course only valid for new orders and does not concern your past order(s).

5) For your information, in normal times, we do ship within 1-2 business days upon order.

The bank transactional system is fully automated and confirms payment authorizations overnight.

6) We are receiving an increasingly huge number of requests.

It is currently not possible to answer everyone with a personalized message; hence this generic message.

Thank you for your patience; we hope the Cybook groundbreaking reading experience will be beyond your expectations.

With our best regards,

Bookeen Support Team

I await mine with interest!

Being overwhelmed with orders could have been a wonderful opportunity to build on the positive community feeling for the Cybook - lots of feedback, a series of blog entries showing their tireless efforts to meet the demand, constant website updates... But - not. Still, I imagine few companies would see the opportunity in the challenge, and if Bookeen were a bunch of marketing wizards they probably wouldn't have put together what (I still hope - I still /believe/) will be a superior technical product.

But hopefully lessons will be learned (:

I get the impression that Bookeen are a "two geeks in a backroom" type of company, rather than a "mega corporation" with teams of "marketting gurus" .

All the more reason to let us enthusiasts do the marketing for them (:

Still, I didn't buy (well, order - I won't feel it's properly bought until it arrives...) the Cybook because of the slick ads (or because I thought Bookeen was some megacorp) but because it's just so damn thin! That, plus my experience of buying Baen SF by the cubic foot on business trips, pushed me over the edge. (Well, and the decision to postpone upgrading my laptop.) Which makes me Kindle-proof, thankfully, so no buyer's (orderer's?) remorse. Yet.

OTOH, if I'm still Cybookless this time next week...

I got a personalized E-Mail after inquiring (I CAN be stubborn :P )

Your package will most likely ship on Tuesday (possible delivery the next day).

Please note that it is an estimation: it also can be tomorrow (Monday) or Wednesday.
I ordered on Nov 4th. So if you ordered before me the same should hold true for you (since they seem to apply a 'first come - first served' scheme.

Received shipping confirmation, should receive reader by Friday. Actually I doubt that, it will never clear customs that quickly.
