Yup. Also on the Ohio Turnpike. And I think all I ever ordered at them was fried clams. No one has ever managed to equal their fried clams, and they were reliable and dependable all across the country.

Wow! Adventurous little doggie, weren't you??! My go-to order was a BLT. I like fried clams *now*, but wouldn't have touched them as a kid.

Au contraire, Ho-Jo's only used the clams' foot, they cut off the belies to use in their clam chowder.

Now the Hingham Lobster Pond,

THEY made some fried clams!

Technically you’re correct, they were reliably and dependably garbage. Not only no bellies but frozen to boot.

There was a little clam shack near Saco, Maine that had clams to die for. Fresh that day and fried in pristine oil. One of the things I miss from living in the Northeast.

HoJo’s was on the Mass Pike and Connecticut Turnpike also. Remember when there was a Connecticut Turnpike? I remember a town on the CT coast, Branford I think, that swore they would never, ever, under any circumstances allow a MacDonalds to be built in their snooty town. When HoJo’s left the turnike, McDonalds took over that location. There wasn’t anything they could do to stop that.

Stuckey's — where you could buy all kinds things, like the office sign that read, "Helen Waite is in charge of our Complaint Department. If you don't like our service, go to Helen Waite." And peanut brittle. It seems we always bought peanut brittle when we went.

At one point the Nook Win8/Win10 app let you log in from your Microsoft account, and charge stuff to whatever credit card you had on the account.

But I thought that was disabled last year.

Random memories on a Sunday evening . . .

It was just beautiful weather here (mid 70s and sunny) such that I went out to a local pup here where the bar faces out to a large lake for a couple of beers and food. As usual the televisions were tuned to channels broadcasting football games. One of the games in progress was between (abbreviations) Cent vs Frisco. I'm not a football fan but do know that there are no such professional football teams so I thought that Frisco might be referring to the team for San Francisco State college? Though I know that people in San Francisco do not like the city referred to as "Frisco."

Curious bit of history. At Altamont it wasn't the Rolling Stones that came up with the idea for paying the local chapter of the Hell's Angels to provide security, it was suggested to them by the Grateful Dead who had used them in the past. The rest was history, the end of the 60's?

Anyway it turns out that the football game was actually a rebroadcast of a game between two high school teams in Texas (link below). They do love their football in Texas. I spend two years (Jr. High) in Dallas and yet had never heard of Frisco, Texas.

Yes, you are correct on the Rolling Stones and Altamont.
And yet it is in the same region.

Ok curiosity is killing the cat... did you ever hear of Permian High school?

Yep, it was the Oakland chapter of the Hell's Angels at Altamont. You are correct as well in that the Altamont Speedway was located on the other side of the East Bay Hills from Oakland near Livermore. Altamont was about 6 months after my family had moved to the SF Bay Area.

Sorry no never heard of it.
On the Permian comment, I asked because you said Texans love their football.
I thought you might have read Friday Night Lights. It was a book about high school football and one team in particular.
The later movie while about the same team had as much resemblance to the book as a giraffe has to a great white shark.
Note: I have been to one state championship football game. It was not pretty on the flight home. Our team lost. I think the entire plane consisted of the team's hungover fathers, a couple of mothers (same shape) and 2 sober kids.
