I loved both of those!

Just started "Thud" in my reading through Pratchett kick. I was getting sad that the end of the books I have was nearing an end, then I got "Unseen Academicals" so I'll have one more to read, and a new one at that.

Finished Her Fearful Symmetry and really liked it. I thought it was a really strong sophomore novel and given how much I loved Audrey Niffeneger's first I was prepared to be disappointed which I was not.

I have now been intrigued by the Margaret Atwood books Oryx and Crake and The Year of the Flood so I am reading the first one now.

I'm reading a short story collection: A Few Short Notes on Tropical Butterflies
by John Murray

Not sure exactly how I ran across it, but it's highly rated on Amazon and the first few stories are interesting and well done.

Just Finished "No Country for Old Men" by Cormac McCarthy. Excellent - 5 stars. It grabs you and doesn't let go till the end. An examination of good vs evil and the uncaring nature of the universe. Or so it seems. Some similar themes to "The Road" which I just read prior to this but overall for me at least The Road was a better book. Certainly nothing slack with this one, if fact the pace and narrative drive is much stronger in this one.

all I can say is "read it!"

Here are the 11 books that I’m currently reading:

One religious book:
1) TaNaKh: The Holy Scriptures (JPS 1985)

Two course syllabuses from The Teaching Company:
1) "The Old Testament", Amy-Jill Levine, Ph.D., E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter professor, Vanderbilt University Divinity School/Graduate department of Religion
2) "The New Testament", Bart D. Ehrman, Ph.D., University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill)

Four books by comedians/humorists/satirists (I like to alternate the heavy with the light):
1) I Am the New Black by Tracy Morgan with Antony Bozza
2) Me of Little Faith by Lewis Black
3) American on Purpose by Craig Ferguson
4) A Tramp Abroad by Mark Twain

One previously banned book, which I bought to commemorate “Banned Books Week”:
1) Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D.H. Lawrence

Three Philosophical Works:
1) The Essays by Francis Bacon
2) The Portable Nietzsche (a re-read). A collection of works by Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche.
3) The Ethics HYPERLINKED by Baruch Spinoza (another re-read). I did the hyperlinks myself -- over a thousand of them -- and uploaded the book to MobileRead today. If you like Spinoza, the link is https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...372#post636372

Usually I try to keep a couple of non-fiction science books in rotation, but I'm trying to cut my currently reading list to under 10.

Just finished _Gibraltar Stars_. It was a good story, but I thought it was rather an abrupt ending to the trilogy.

What to read next... hmm... (Oh, it won't be the Paris Hilton biography).

Does she have one out? I would read a PH memoir, because memoirs usually include thoughts and I'd love to see if she has any.

There are actually 2 in the Kindle store. Neither is an autobiography.
