(They had good cause a few years ago when we were down for a visit, and she and my SO went to a local party store to pick up a bunch of helium balloons for a party she was holding. I wasn't along for that ride, but I'm sure a Mustang convertible, driven by a blonde woman, with another woman gamely holding on to enough helium balloons to threaten to pull her out of her seat and float away with her was something to see... )______ Dennis |

Thanks all for the good wishes; and Freeshadow, at under 300 grams it's really too light to be an effective weapon. If I end up replacing it I'll look for another light one as I really don't need the strength of a heavier stick. I mostly carry it for balance and panache.

When I was walking my German shepherd I got into the habit of using the pooper scooper (a short shovel) as a walking stick. Now I use a trekking pole. No character, but functional. And no comparison at all to yours! |

Am I the only person who has that one particular spot in their lawn where--no matter how calm it is was when you started mowing--a breeze always kicks up suddenly and blows the discharge from the mower-deck right back in their face?
Always. The same spot. Without fail. I even try coming at The Spot from different directions and angles and at different speeds. No matter: "Here. Have some grit to eat mowing-man." I pause and wait for the breeze to die down (the neighbor's flagpole is in sight), but I can literally feel the wind freshen as I get closer to The Spot. What is that? Is there a name for that? Windergeist? What?! |
