A most enjoyable murder mystery. Archie is the narrator - a mysterious AI, but this mystery doesn't impact on the murder mystery.

I greatly enjoyed Three Parts Dead myself, along with the prequels/sequels: Two Serpents Rise, Full Fathom Five, Last First Snow, and Four Roads Cross.

(That's publication order. Internal chronology is the title numeric order, but it's probably best to read in publication order.)

I'm pleased to see this and pdurrant's positive comments. I picked up the five books as an omnibus (The Craft Sequence) on special a few months ago. I've been wondering what to expect but haven't had a chance to pick them up yet ... they might get bumped up the queue now

Thanks for the info. I do have Two Serpents Rise already and may read that soon. Interesting how they aren't written close to chronological order. I wonder if that was intentional.

Near the end of a trilogy of Jason King books written by Matt Rogers. A shoot 'em up, blow 'em up, fast paced, adrenaline fueled action series. Interestingly, I was looking to see if there were any books that tied into the Jason King TV Series of the 1970s like The Man From U.N.C.L.E. had.
Minor plot lapses but still an interesting read. **** out of 5.

Typical McCaffrey fare-- fairly light, but entertaining (to me). Currently reading the second in the trilogy, Killashndra

Yeah, fairly typical. I enjoyed them the first time around, but can't see myself revisiting them.

Work seems to have been taking away precious reading time. I did read The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey which we discussed over in the NLBC, and I also read The White Queen by Philippa Gregory as part of the interest generated by that topic (and posted about it on that thread). Otherwise just two other novels:

The Great Wheel by Ian R. MacLeod. I found this hard to rate, I both liked it and disliked it. I liked the characters, setting and the writing, but I found the story moved too slowly and was sometimes quite confusing. The point of much of it was never quite clear to me. Finally decided on: 3/5.

Having found that fairly heavy going, I was looking for something lighter and tried:

Arsenic in the Azaleas by Dale Mayer. If I'd looked at the other stuff she writes I probably would have skipped this, but the title attracted me and the premise seemed to have promise ... that, sadly, was never realised. It started out cheesy but amusing, then turned tedious as we follow the main character through food shopping and other such mundanity and then into condescending repetition. The few dead bodies are barely worth mentioning (here or in the book). It could have been fun, it should have been fun, but it wasn't. 2/5.

Finished Verses For the Dead by Preston & Child. This one was just ok/average. Unremarkable. The series has become very hit or miss lately. Nothing like the early books in the series. The plot was too random and much left unexplained. This was a rush job or the authors didn't have their heart into it. No pun intended. Rated C [3 stars].

Just finished A Taste for Vengeance by Martin Walker and it was very good. But, as I’ve said before, don’t read this book if you are trying to lose weight!

The newest Bruno, Chief of Police is due out June 4, 2019. I agree. If I was reading them on paper, the books would have drool all over them.

Good thing my Kindle is waterproof! They really are a delight.

I just abandoned the second Christopher Paolini Inheritance Cycle book. I should have dropped the first one, but then the second showed up at the library. What a waste of my time. They sounded better than they were executed.

To wash that out of my system, I'm doing a quick re-read of The Steerswoman, by Rosemary Kirstein. Still one of my all time favourites.

I also started next month's New Leaf Book Club selection, The Graveyard Book, by Neil Gaiman.
