Home finally! Errands done, work paperwork done, taxes done (<-- that's the best one), and a fresh cup of Peet's Anniversary blend coffee in my cup (plus some early chocolate eggs on my plate).

Be careful what you wish for, Orlok! I've taken over 1,000 of them in the past three days... But yes, for the most part it really was a wonderful experience. I've never been around thousands and thousands and thousands of laughing people anywhere else but in the Songkran festivities here in Chiang Mai. And just about everyone is either laughing out loud or at least smiling all day long... except for short bursts of teeth-gritting when someone dumps a bowl of ice water down your back. Fortunately, that doesn't happen too often. The rest of the time it's just cool water most welcome on a very hot day, and people wishing each other a very happy new year! Nice...

Fourth cup of Peet's Major Dickason's coffee for the day. Along with two mugs of Peet's English Breakfast and one of Lion Mountain Keemun. I'm swimming in caffeine! But only 6 more hours of work to go! Just have to do the tidy up stuff. Whew. I might only have to move to Hawaii for the submission, not Pago Pago.

Good morning, everyone! Yes, it's been a very good year. It's almost a year since we left Japan. 10 months, actually. A lot of water under the bridge (and on my head these days) and I can't think of a thing I would have done differently! So I'm drinking unbranded Keemun tea today, eating hummus, babaganush, and Kalamata olives, and planning to stay indoors today and just read a good book. I've a lot of photos to edit from this New Years holiday, and even a couple of 'keepers' that I'll be able to sell. All in all, it's been a very good year!

... with a few surprises and

Happy Monday!!! Yes, it's still Monday in Hawaii, so I made my deadline with plenty of time to spare. Well, OK, maybe not plenty.

Nothing in my cup, but when I wake up, I'll see if the sun is over the yardarm somewhere.

Congrats? Yeah, I guess. Too groggy to even know right now. But the first draft is _done_ and submitted. I've got more in author review than I usually like to deal with, but that's a decision I had to take. And I already know I've got an tech reviewer who is good, but with whom I'm going to have some core stylistic issues. That's OK, I always win. But it gets annoying at some point. And from what I've seen so far, he's very fussy. Which is exactly what you want in a tech reviewer, no matter how much it annoys you at the time.

Well, three chapters are sitting in my incoming author review queue, so all I'll get for a break is a half day or so. But that's OK, the end is in sight and it's downhill to the line.

Thanks. I'm glad I did too. Lots still to do, but at least now I can do it on a more reasonable schedule.
