I'm celebrating! I big glass of iced Assam tea to celebrate FINDING MY HEARING AID!
No $1,000 wasted! The people at the restaurant where I normally eat lunch found it under one of the other tables and held it for me. I guess it got pulled out of the ear piece when I took off my helmet, got carried along on my shirt collar as I walked through the seating area and fell off mid way along! This afternoon I went to a hearing aid store and bought a tether for them. I don't want to go through this again! Stitchawl |

After-dinner mango with sticky rice and coconut milk!
Yesterday, I only went two places after I left my house before I noticed one was missing. I figured that it got pulled out of the ear piece when either putting on or taking off my helmet, which I did in those two places. Yesterday I retraced my steps, looking at the ground. At the restaurant (I have a permanently reserved table at this place... been that way since 2001 when I first moved to Chiang Mai. I gave up the table when I moved back to Japan, but on returning to northern Thailand claimed it again. I have lunch there 4-5 days a week, sometimes more) I enlisted all the staff to help me look, showing them the remaining aid so they'd know what to look for. One of the staff found it later that night when they were sweeping up, wedged up against the leg of table in the center of the eating area. It must have taken quite a bounce to wind up 15ft away from where I was walking! Tomorrow I will bring them all large gift baskets of flowers, fruit, and cookies and cash. Stitchawl |

Keemun. It has been a while since I had some and it tastes yummy. I still dislike long work days but strongly prefer making up the hours.

FYI, Bilbo1967, Russian Caravan is not a specific tea, but varies a great deal from one purveyor to another. To quote the Peet's site on their version: Quote:

when I was little, we used to have what we called "russian tea" especially while camping. it was nothing like this, actually pretty tacky, it consisted of instant tea, tang and massive amounts of clove and cinnamon. it sure was yummy around the campfire

I think it reflected a fact about Russian tea, though--Most tea spent a LONG time on the trail, and not all teas handle that well. So adding a bit of citrus and/or spice is an obvious way to perk it up. Peet's makes a Holiday spiced tea that sounds a bit like that. (Can't remember the name they use, except I know it's not the same as the Holiday Breakfast Blend, which is really just a regular tea.)

Second mug of (inexpensive, but authentic) tea.
I've heard about the "Russian instant tea/Tang" concoction as well, from my son's days with the Cub Scouts. It was fun, as long as it was only once a year. |

Authory thing. Non-fiction books tend to use A-heads for major headings in a chapter. Each A-head will have two or more B-heads.(Think of them as sub-heads, it's close enough.) B-heads, in turn, have zero or two or more C-heads. (Never one sub-head for a higher level head. If you can't come up with more sub-heads, you need to change the head.)
Finished the chapter. Ta ta for now. |
