Good morning, everyone! I just realized that this is the 12th Monday since we've had anything but sunshine! 12 weeks with not a drop of rain nor a cloudy sky. And probably none to see until the end of April. Momma Nature is saving it all up for the Rainy Season. Then there will be two hours of rain EVERY afternoon, rain like Noah saw, rain where you can't see through it to the other side of the street. But at the end of the two hours, bright sun again until the next afternoon. Just like clockwork! I'll save my Lapsang Souchong teas for that. Right now I'm drinking Ving Joom On's "English Breakfast"tea and loving it! Expensive, but worth every baht!

Guitar lesson today... My last one with this teacher. I'll make the rounds of other music schools and try to find a teacher who will give me what I want. It's not easy... teachers are most comfortable teaching what THEY want, not what the student wants. And especially in my music style area... Oh well... they say that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear. I think I'll have another cup of tea first.

Orange juice is good. But fresh squeezed is so much better. And so easy to do. In many parts of the USA you can actually buy something that is recognizably fresh squeezed orange juice in the local supermarket. But even where you can't, the cost of a citrus juicer is quite reasonable and then you simply buy oranges by the 40# crate instead of a couple at a time. (My local IGA is more than happy to order up an extra crate of whatever orange is currently the least expensive or the best juicing for me, and they always give me a better price on the crate than I would pay for individual oranges.)

Good morning, everyone. Another crisp spring day here on the Sunshine Coast which looks to live up to it's billing again today.

Started out with fresh squeezed orange juice. At this time of the year, what we get are California Navels. Thick rind, lots of pulp, sweet, but only so-so flavour. And less juice per orange than optimal. But still, delicious!

Now, Peet's Holiday Breakfast Blend tea.

That book lovers may be slightly more to the introvert scale, and thus likely to survive an off shift, and thus likely to take it? Or maybe that's just me! I was a shifting shift worker when I started, but I'm day shift only now - though mine is a later starting day shift than many others.

Perhaps related to that, certainly. But I would wager that even amongst book lovers, the percentage of active posters to this thread who have done (and liked) shift work is remarkably high. I worked 3rd Shift (graveyard) for >8 years at one job, and 5 years at another. And another 4 years or so on 2nd shift, but my preference was definitely for 3rd shift. I could lead a nearly normal life, just (as my son put it) "upside down". I could date, go to plays or ballet or concerts, go out to dinner, etc. You can't do any of that on 2nd shift, except on your days off.

Eventually, I'm going out with a snow shovel and widen out the driveway -- it's melting, but not fast enough.

Our driveway is on a steep slope facing the southwest. Aside from the part I'd shoveled, the sun has done a great job of melting off the excess snow. But all of the runoff pooled at the base of the driveway ... and froze. In places that ice was more than three inches thick.

I used a garden shovel to pry up the edges of the ice sheets and then break them up. Then, I used the snow shovel to clear away the debris. Then back to breaking up more ice.

It's pretty much done, now. Until next January, I hope!


Right now I'm relaxing with my fourth mug of tea.
