Well, the forecast was more of the dreary rain we've had for several days, but all I see out there is SUN.
Which is now listed as "Limited Edition", meaning I need to do a stock up soon to make sure I have enough to keep me in good Keemun for the year. ![]() Finished off my morning fresh squeezed orange juice, and a morning mug of Peet's Major Dickason's coffee. Waiting for the coffee to kick in. I'm going to need it today. |

Yeah, I know what you mean! But if it always gets me a beautiful day like this, I'll change my opinion.
Still working on that Lion Mountain Keemun. Which really is the best reasonably priced, readily available, Keemun I've found. Except maybe Stichawl's "unbranded keemun", but that is one that doesn't exactly meet the "readily available" criteria here in Canada.

It's overcast here and I'm dragging. My body always needs about a week to get use to the clock change. *Sigh* I have to get out and get some of the front yard done before guests arrive and I just don't feel like it.

Yep we are fully back in 1784 in most of the US (except more modern locations, such as Arizona). Still trying to figure out where to put all the sunlight we are saving. Wonder if I can use it to make sun tea?

LM was excited. He woke up at his usual time and Dad actually got him. Normally he has 45 minutes of play time in his crib.

I don't mind the lost hour, since I know I'll get it back in the fall. And it's not like I'm going anywhere or have to be at work. I mostly get up with the sun regardless. Which, above the 49th Parallel, means I don't get much sleep in the summer. ![]() More of my Lion Mountain Keemun as I enjoy this absolutely gorgeous day here. Sunny, and 13.5C. |

The sun has always been irrelevant to my sleep habits.

It's strange for me -- I worked graveyard shift for years and years, and really enjoyed it. Slept during the day without issue. But since I started working at home, I've found myself much more controlled by the sun. And mostly I think that's good and healthy. There are certainly enough studies about the problems with shift work, though those studies are skewed in some ways because they really don't examine the problem from the perspective of someone who treats shift work in the same way a regular day shift person does. When I worked 11pm to 7am, I got up about 9pm, had breakfast, went to work, got off and worked out, then did my business or watched TV or read or whatever, and wen to bed around 1pm. This meant that I was not tired and at the end of my day while I was at work. Good thing, I was working with 480 to 12,000 volts AC. Or, later, with 600 volts DC.

I worked shift work for years. The only shift that really bothered me was the day shift, 7:00 to 3:00. I could never adjust.
Noises were never a problem, either, until I had kids. I once spent a summer renting a room in a university fraternity house (I wasn't a member, but they rented the rooms during the summer to keep the building occupied) while doing shift work. One week, while I was on third shift and sleeping during the day, the university tore down the siding on the house next door -- about 20 feet from my window -- and put up aluminum siding. Another time, when I was in an apartment, I slept through a false alarm (thankfully) that had all the common area smoke detectors going off. Once I had kids I would wake up at any noise at all. But being able to sleep during the day continued to be a valuable skill. And I just opened a new cannister of pu-erh, so I'm having an after dinner mug. |

I worked 10p to 6a for a while, and took a few morning College classes after work. Kind of like night school I guess. Worked for me at least.
