Interesting! I'd never heard of that breed before. I just read some Wiki about them and it seems to be a wonderful new addition to the cat line!

We get the Newfoundland dogs here (poor buggers get so hot) but you need a license over here to keep an animal like the one you're holding. In fact you need a license for native animals here as well but no one has cats like that. Especially in their house.

Newfies adapt pretty well to different weather, especially if they can swim. of course their first love will always be snow and cold weather. that's not me in the pic, that's the breeder (I am in the pic on skis!). he is actually bigger than either of my cats will ever be as he is 100% Serval, and my cats are an "F5" (5 generations away from 100%) and an F2. the F5 is the oldest, about a year and a half and about 22 pounds. the F2 is about 8 months and about 14 pounds. she has had irritable bowel so has not gotten as big as she could be, I still have my hopes. they grow until they are about 4. it is ironic the places that put such controls on them as they are extremely difficult to breed, just to get things to work out, so to speak

My cats have gotten tangled up in plastic bags before, but they tend to be terrified when it "chases" them through the house.

About 3:00 this morning my female cat, Lori, woke me up with this strange hissing growl sound. She was somewhere else in the house, so I ignored it the first time. Then she did it again, in the bedroom. I sat up and turned on the light, and she jumped up on the bed, hissing again -- with a big piece of packing tape stuck to the end of her tail! I guess she was investigating a box I brought home yesterday and somehow got attached to the loose tape. It took her a few minutes to settle down after that.

you inadvertant meanie!

Mr M like to play with plastic bags, but has a habit of ripping them up and spitting out the bits. I am so worried he will choke, plastic bags are kept out of cat reach!

We had a sticky tape story too. when Mr M was young (abt 6 months) we bought some wire mesh to cat proof our courtyard (waste of time the little bugger was a great escape artist). Anyway it was wrapped round and round with packing tape. When we finally unwrapped the tape we had a big messy ball of the stuff bigger than kitten. I got stuck to to his rump and he went bananas up and down the stairs with the big ball of tape chasing him. It was all we could do to stop laughing to rescue him. Poor baby!

One of my cats (the orange long hair, Buddy) is addicted to plastic bags. He does the same as Mr. M -chews on them. We have to keep them out of his reach and we still have to watch him with the plastic trashbag liners in the bathroom and office trashcans. I'm always scared he'll swallow a piece and choke or it'll hurt his intestines.
