Assault and battery over the printer was one. Two were this guy who was banned but kept coming back.

Fighting over a printer is a level of insanity that's difficult to describe without expletives. As for the fellow who was banned but keeps returning; what's with these people who keep coming back where they aren't wanted? There have been a few banned MobileRead members who have done that, assuming that a new account with a new user name will render them invisible. Unfortunately they always forget to alter their quite distinguishable bad behavior. A leopard can change his user name, but not his spots.

I think on the banned they have the mindset of "I am the greatest most important person I know so therefore I can do whatever the expletive I want. "

I've been involved in a couple of those. If nothing else, they usually don't change where they're posting from, and moderators can compare originating IP addresses. Worst case, access from that IP address can be blocked. (Which is SOP for spammers.)

Getting outright banned instead of just a cooling off vacation takes doing, but some folks have managed it.

I expressed it once as "Imagine you step into an unfamiliar bar to have a drink, and suddenly a couple of locals get into a knock down drag out brawl in the bar. You're likely to leave and not come back. So it is with MR forums. You are welcome to believe what you like. You are welcome to state your beliefs. You are not welcome to make MR forums a place where other folks don't want to come because of your behavior."

I always look at banning as walking into an unfamiliar bar and starting a fight with a regular.
You will be asked to leave if you are lucky.
If you are unlucky, the regulars will help you leave.

I worked in an academic library eons ago at the reference desk which housed books that couldn't be checked out ... back when coin operated copy machines were everywhere ... near closing time tensions would reach incandescent levels as folks frantically tried to make copies of stuff they hadn't finished reading ...

Pretty much. Now it is a scanner that goes to the printer, not a coin-copier, and they swipe their I.D.s but, yeah, they get anxious over it. What, apparently, happened is that one girl thought another girl had cut her in line, so she grabbed that girl's arm hard enough to bruise (according to the grabbed girl). Grabbed girl then punched grabber girl in the side of the head hard enough to leave a lump.

aWell... I installed Eizo Color Navigator, latest version, on my laptop, so the laptop calibrates my Eizo CS240 when starting while docked. When the program switched to a black full screen in preparation of calibration and profiling, I saw it...

A white pixel in a sea of black.

A STUCK PIXEL on an >€700 monitor, only 20 months old, and AFAIK, it's a class II device, which means that it is allowed to have X dead/stuck pixels per such and such resolution. (In all honesty, I've never encountered a Class I monitor for consumer use, which has to be perfect during the time of its warranty)

I was a good way into ranting, when Color Navigator finished its task and switched back to a window, so I immediately set a solid black background in Windows, fully expecting to see a stuck white pixel appearing. Only...

It wasn't there.

So I restarted Color Navigator, and sure as hell, there it was again.

In a screen that should be completely black, Color Navigator has ONE white pixel. I've never seen that before. I'll have to check on the desktop, where I just updated CN, but didn't recalibrate/reprofile.

I wonder if I should report this as some sort of bug.
