Through the Eye of a Needle was fun as a sequel, but didn't really have enough plot for a whole book. The Flowers of Vashnoi was excellent. Cobra Outlaw was good, but a bit disjointed. I'd have preferred following one character for a bit longer each time, when their time lines don't intersect. And now straight on to Cobra Traitor, the final part in the trilogy. I'm very glad I waiting until the entire trilogy was ready. Keeping all the characters straight would have been tricky otherwise! |

I have that on my TBR. It certainly has a riveting opening. I hadn't realized the connection of the Royal George disaster and the Gibraltar seige.

I was supposed to be reading Monster Hunter Alpha by Larry Correia but I got sidetracked with another book I started before. The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. It was a good mystery/suspense novel. Plus I finished one of those Harlequin cowboy books, Riding Shotgun by Joanna Wayne.
Now I picked up another mystery, The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena.(a paper book!) I'll get back to Monster Hunter Alpha...I will take it to bed with me as I find it awkward to read paper books in bed. So reading both I guess. lol Somehow I end up reading 2 or 3 books at a time, but I usually finish what I started(eventually). That's the way it goes for me I guess. Decided to go for a Patrick Ness triple with The Crane Wife. It seemed right up my alley, and not just because the previous two books of his I read were both 9/10 for me. And somehow it didn't work so well. It redeemed itself a little by the end, but not a favourite.

I'm not sure. I haven't read the others yet. A Naturalist at Large is a collection of magazine articles, especially from Natural History.

I decided to read Beyond the Shadows by Brent Weeks to finish up the trilogy while I still remembered what happened in book two.
However, this was my least favorite of the series. Much of the first half was people wandering around gathering information, scheming or training for battle. Not much action to keep me interested. The ending was hurried and, frankly, silly. The impossible became possible because of love. That sums up the whole trilogy. Sappy. Next TBD |
