~happydance~ Monkey Hat, Blinky, Snoopy, and so on...you're all people after my own heart (but you can't have it as I'm still using it).

No, no iNook intended at this stage, Dennis, as much as it's my favourite ereader model name. I'm not even looking at the localized iKobo, and I've always had a bias against Sony. I better settle myself for now...currently trying to figure why Calibre isn't sending my metadata to the iKindle with the mobi files. Not blaming calibre, as I generally start -bull-at-a-gate and then backtrack, so I'm pretty sure I've done something wrong (I even have a couple of ideas where - trying to be too smart for my own good is my usual downfall).

Cheers,

If you're adding meta after you add the book to calibre, convert mobi to mobi and then send it to the ikindle. That should make it stick.

Wondering why Folks keep talking about their phones being 'rooted' as being a good thing! ???? I always thought something that was rooted was broken.

"Rooting" a phone in this case is a good thing, (I guess). Because what they mean is they can then have "root" access (a Linux term) to all the phone's inner workings. Basically it just means you can fool around with stuff the phone carrier or manufacturer or sometimes both tried to lock you out of.

"Rooted" over here has another, more salacious meaning. To "root" is to have sexual congress with another (which reminds me of an old political scandal here, with the female protagonist being referred to as "the screw that held the cabinet together"). Thus, rooting your phone (in public) might get you arrested.

Cheers,
Marc

Ah. I thought she'd read my definition and was replying that what I said was illegal in Australia. Glad the mobi to mobi worked for you, Marc ~big hugs back~

Hey Geoff! I got my (second packet) shipment of Mellotex! Wow, it really is a bit different, I can see the appeal already. It's almost a cross between Bristol Smooth and Arches hot pressed....chopped a sheet up (a bit of damage on the edges due to shipping ) into some 10 x 11 or so pieces and will probably do my next drawing on it. Played with it a bit last night with various pencils....definitely will be a learning experience....

I've found an easy solution to get access to Netflix through my Apple-TV ver 2 in Europe, now I'm just waiting for the preconfigured VPN router to arrive. I'll tell you more about the set-up when it arrives.

I tried streaming a HD-rental movie from Apple yesterday and it wasn't painless with a lot of disruptions waiting for the film to continue loading, but at least it didn't halt completely. I'm going to try a non HD rental next time.

I just tried to play a regular none HD film/stream and there were no lag in the streaming whatsoever and the movie started playing right away.

This Apple-TV box has proven to be really useful and the interface is very easy to use.

There are now more people watching Netflix through the Apple-TV than through the Ipad

According to Netflix’s quarterly earnings report, more customers are using the service on an Apple TV than the iPad. This is despite the fact that Apple has sold over 15 million iPads and only 2 million Apple TVs.
I would however like to argue that the Apple-TV is a more natural channel to watch Netflix than the iPad due to the fact that it connects to your TV.

Sounds cool! I suppose you need to mask your IP address to access it?
