Regarding your startup-script-problem check the path, it's case-sensitive.
Test if your prsp.sh is executed with a simple echo "it's done" > Data\log.txt
Make sure your font (to replace the internal one) is prepared accordingly. It's not only the filename, it's also the fontname within the file which had to match.

Thanks for your excellent pointers, it seems like a million years since I looked at a command line. I've moved my sleep paper to ../wallpaper and everything is working correctly. I guess this suggests the path is set up correctly to ../PRSPlus. The check you've suggested has also worked, so prsp.sh is also working correctly. I have set up the fonts correctly, I believe - I have successfully applied smaller fonts via PRS Customiser, but I want to achieve it through the bind trick because there are no good small fonts that will fit in a PRSCust flash. Oddly, when I terminate a line with Enter and save from Notepad only the last line, without termination, runs. How should a line be terminated in .sh? (currently CRLF 0x0d0a)

Your help is very much appreciated.

notepad is the problem!
shell-scripts needs to be Unix-style = LF only

Get you a editor where this and also the encoding (UTF-8) can be controlled.

Brilliant, that's solved the prsp.sh problem and scripts are running as expected. I've now run into frank's problem. Copying my font to /tmp causes the reader to constantly reboot and when I do manage to get the machine to settle (usb in and out again) all PRS+ functions are lost as if broken. Modifying prsp.sh and rebooting brings 2.0.14 backup again. I'll have to try the installer route.
First attempt via installer has not even produced a log file. Must dash now but will let you know how a more concerted effort pans out.

This is a feature. When your reader restarts while connected to USB it comes up in safe mode, plain bones no PRS+.

You don't need to install PRS+ again, it's not removed from the system that easily.
If you boot with usb connected, prps.sh doesn't start and neither does PRS+.

How big are your fonts? Did you rename _fonts_ (not only filenames, but font metadata) according to "detailed guide..."?

Indeed, as I said commenting out the offending cp and rebooting brought 2.0.14 up. Nice to know it'll fail safe when it has to. As for the font, it's around 4Mb. They are correctly formed. I'd ultimately like to follow Frank and replace all three fonts. What sort of memory limit am Ifacing?

Try to mount them directly from internal memory. It's not a clean way (reader will fail to umount IM when connected to PC) but you can use bigger files this way.

It seems so simple in retrospect! That has indeed worked. I'm not sure what symptoms to expect from the failure to umount, but I seem to have access to IM over USB when connected to PC. I'm quite delighted.

Thanks for latest 2.14 beta, I like the cover on standby on my 505
But when trying to get my custom icons installed using this post, but when I try to create the image it says no space available?
I thought it might be my sd card (32Mb), so I changed to a 8Gb one (with 7Gb free) but get same error.
Any idea how to fix this?

I think version two of PRS+ is a little larger than version one, so the customiser flash balks at the first stage. If you look at the files you copied to sd card you should see make_opt.sh. Mine has this in lines 73-77

I managed to get customiser to work by changing that 1048576 to something nearer 500576. By relaxing the check, I was able to successfully create the image to flash back in the next step. Hope this helps.

Just for the records:
Check Building PRS+ in the WIKI of the project-page.
After creating your local repository-clone you will find a folder prs-plus\firmware\505\Fsk\sony\ebook\application\resou rces\scripts
where you can put your custom kbookIcon.png
(Note that the folder structure is basically the same as with PRSCustomizer)
Finally build your own custom-installer by running ant in folder \build

BUT I use LINUX ONLY. The instructions say the build script ONLY runs on M$ systems

That wasn't an option for me, it maybe nice if the installer could check for a jpg or 2 and use them as the top left icon etc.
