I can't change that, but I can continue to point out the fault (from the consumer perspective) in that way of doing business.
You're free to fault, of course. Just seems that Apple customers are happy with what they're paying for.

As I mentioned, I'm not a techie and I buy ease of use. If any other companies can go Apple better, I will buy. (I'm not willing to stand in line to buy anything, though, lol.)

I guess Brightcove sees it as worth the effort.

Obviously, you would rather bludgeon Apple into using Adobe proprietary formats that run like garbage on Macs. Heck, even the Android demo of full Flash crashed twice so it seems that Adobe still has a lot of work to do to get their software to work on devices using ARM processors with limited RAM.

I'm sure Apple would consider it if Adobe could show a decent working model and in 3 years, they have not.

Ah, cool! So are you in the on-line marketing business or is this a personal project?

Personal. I just wanted an excuse to use this: Adobe in this thread.

Yep. People buy all sorts of things and quite often it is not really for any reason they have themselves, they do what the media tells them to do. Apple is definitely a major player in that game.

You say yourself you are non-techy so it's very possible there is something better for you out there but you may be unaware of it. Thank goodness for sites like this, eh?

The internet is both a blessing and a curse. Tons of information, but at the same time tons of misleading bull.

Sure, there might be something better. My needs are few, so I'm setting a pretty low bar, lol. I read about Asus, HP and Microsoft. Bummed that HP and Microsoft backed off. Asus did not sound promising. (I lurked on an Asus fan forum and saw mixed comments where I would've expect rah-rah.) No brand loyalty for me, so if I learn about something better, I'll switch. I've never been an early adopter, but I love tablet form, so I figured I'd go with iPad for now and see.

Yep. The iPad is about the only reasonable thing on the market at the moment, but Google is expected to announce next week and I expect to see a bunch more by Christmas.

(probably some with REAL Operating Systems (tm) as well. )

you keep saying this.. but you don't offer any additional information..

I'd really like to know what your criteria are for a "real" operating system. How the iDevice's unix base is deficient in this area, and what other operating system you plan on using and how it is more "real".

If you really feel the iDevice's OS is so poor, tell us why, or stop making this pointless comment.

Oh my! Not pointless at all and also true as you well know, and for reasons that have been point out countless times here and on many other websites.

And no I won't stop saying it at least not unless you quit acting like Steve Jobs and trying to tell others what to do.

as usual, you completely dodge the question. so basically you have nothing to back up your claim that apple doesn't have a "real" os. in other words, trolling.

Me three. I'm really interested to see what HP does with WebOS. I think it has the most polished, aesthetically pleasing UI of any of the smartphone platforms, and the card metaphor to handle multitasking is really clever. It's a shame that a) Palm didn't have the resources to push it harder and b) the Pre hardware was kind of crappy.

I just hope HP doesn't end up bungling Palm like it did some of its other acquisitions.

The iPad has a "real" OS as that's an ambiguous term

What it doesn't have is a robust enough OS to serve my, and others, needs for a tablet to do work with rather than just consume media.

And what I mean by robust is having an open file system, drag and drop support, usb ports for flash drives and external hard drives, option to use Flash and any other current or future web plug in I so choose, true multi tasking, etc. etc.

There you go again......you can't discuss the technology rationally so you start with the accusations and attacks.

I stated my reasons which have been stated by many others on many sites. Would you like to continue to discuss Flash (or maybe piracy or copyright)? We could start a new thread.
