hiya all.

i am trying to install my library (all sorted in to author folders)on to a 8gb mem stick but it takes an age to do it.
i tried to put all the files on all at once (approx 7 gb) and it just shut down my reader .
has anybody managed to install a large library and do you have any tips to speed up the process.

i have tried with noscan file on the card and without .the formats are pdf and lrf can anyone help too solve this problem.

Just dragged and dropped 25K of files , sorted by folders but did it by card reader rather than through ereader... also made adding .noscan easier... my books all lrf or epub with few pdfs... good luck, it did take around three hours+ (nearly 7GB) but not bad for USB2 to card reader transfer... and it worked

Mike, I've just uploaded guide (in Russian, by Faeron).

1) Please don't forget to "pull" before you change files/push.
2) I think you could reuse big chunks of what Faeron has written (several chapters of his guide are just screenshots)

By the way, disabling scan is now also possible via Browse Folders settings.

Kartu, do I have to download a revised version of PRS+ to get the scan for memory cards back? I'm just about writing a manual in english.
I know I could just go with screen shots, but I rather make some kind of real manual.
There is one question so far:
When setting the root folder, why would one do that?

Are the global ones higher than the menu or reading book key bindings, or maybe the other way round?

I just played with the key bindings. I assigned different games to the button 2 to see what happens. Well, in any menu, 2 provided the action assigned whatever action originally was assigned to 2. In menus it opened menu item 2. in the books it opened the insert page number to quickly jump to any page. But no game opened up

OK, screenshot on Volum+ still works.

OK, original functions work if pressed normally, assigned actions are carried out when button is held down until action is carried out. Lol. Sorry, I should have known.

Two questions:
In the Global menu, in key binding options, are not joypad buttons and other buttons options.
The screenshot is perfect when you save in the SD, but to save the internal memory the progress message does not disappear.

I think it would be interesting to put the screenshot on the menu of games & utilities with options to select the button and enable or disable the utility.

Kartu, I'm finished and it actually looks like a manual. As it's really late now, I didn't proof read yet. I'll do this first in the morning. Do you want me to send you the file as a pdf so you can upload it or do we take a chance and I try it myself? If wanted/needed, I can also provide a German translation.

Do it yourself, why not? Regarding German translation: YES! Of course! But read here, how to do it (basically you have to put the ".wiki" files with the same names as in root folders into "de" subfolder):

Unfortunatelly, uploading/editing localized wiki pages is possible only via mercurial, not directly on site. What I did when uploading Faeron's russian translation was: first upload the images, then create a "new page" but don't save it, just preview to see if everything was correct, then commit/push via mercurial.

Books view overrides hold 1-0 keys, but menu view doesn't. (and neither menu nor book view overrides "volume" button). I guess key bindings deserve a separate guide.

No.By default it is enabled, unless there is a bug. However, ".noscan" files are honored regardless of this settings.

To avoid confusion actually, but I can allow them as well, if someone needs them. The problem is, those buttons are overriden in the most common views: book & menu. Technically there is no problem to override even "1-0" (without holding them long) as well, but the question is, whether it's feasible.

Sounds like a bug. Is the file actually saved? I'll have a look in the evening.

You mean allowing to customize in-game key bindings?

Scan should be enabled by default. Is it not?

(If I got what you mean) Pepak, for example, likes his books stored in "/books" not in "/database/media/books". Others like to put it directly in IM root and then wonder, why no book is visible in "browse folders". And it's an option easy to implement.

More specific bindings have higher priority. (I was first thinking about an option to choose, what has higher priority, but since it required a lot of effort and was error-prone to do it in a consistent way (there are many views out there: "about", "goto page", "info", each game has it's own etc) I've decided to leave it like that)

Holding button 2 (assigned in "global") should work in menu ("about", "info" etc aren't "menu", sorry for the confusion), but not in book (it overrides it).

Ah, I see, "hold" means "hold for 5 sec". There could be a better way to name them.

Guys, I've just checked the code regarding enabling/disabling card scanning, and it looks OK.
1) Scanning should be ENABLED by default.
2) ".noscan" file has higher priority than this setting.

Kartu, I almost forgot about the copy file option. If there's no scan of the memory cards, I can copy the files and if I scan the memory, I can open the files. Is that correct? I didn't try this as I don't want to reinstall the fw right now, but I rather open files than copy them.

Correct. Basically "Browse Folder" does the following (for each file):

for a given book path, try to find it in loaded books list. If it is found, initialize it as usual book, if not, attach "copy" menus.

I don't get why do you need to upgrade fw to test it though. Just disabling scanning via menu and reinserting (with a short delay, say 5 sec) the card should work.

Wasn't it that there had a .noscan file to be placed somewhere. I thought I'll have to redo the install to get the default back.
