Not really so much a rant, but whenever skimming through the daily freebies on eReaderIQ, there's one publisher of recipe books who titles all of them stuff like "Lemonade: A Lemonade Cookbook with All Types of Delicious Lemonades." The sheer redundancy never fails to make me laugh.

It's almost a challenge: how many times we can squeeze (pun intended) lemonade into a title.

I haven't read the books yet, but I did think this cover was well done and a neat way to represent a box set. Plus, unlike many examples (rectangular and isometric), I think it works reasonably well even at typical thumbnail sizes.

There are lots of ways to tackle the problem.

And I don't mind if they think outside the box.

I do like that "spinal" bookset graphic. My RV&R is related to the "a novel" thing. I just saw this at Kobo.



Apparently the plot involves music, so the title is likely a reference to the Requiem Mass. If you're aiming for people who get the reference, they don't need the translation - they may start humming/singing the line as I did. If you're aiming for people who DON'T get the reference, why bother with the Latin at all?

On rants about boxset/omnibus editions. I wish that they would have individual cover images in them at the start of each book. (It would make splitting them up a lot easier - I do that with any boxset/omnibus I buy)

An omnibus is not a box set. A box set is a set of individual books. So when you have an eBook box set that has a number of books in one file, that is an omnibus and not a box set.

Take a look back at the context. There were two omnibuses in the picture. Put those two omnibuses into a box and you have a box set of omnibuses.

Look, I know as humour went it was pretty weak, but sheesh! I didn't expect to have to work this hard.

But a box set of eBooks is a single file. So that's an omnibus and not a box set.

I use ereaderiq. I diid not know there were freebies. I will have to check it out

My post wasn't talking about ebooks. I say again, take a look back at the context: my post was in reply to a post about a pair of hardcover omnibus editions that could have been placed in a real cardboard box. A literal box of omnibuses that I thought even you could find nothing to complain about ... not a mistake I am likely to make again.
