Did you install update 2 (KSM09_update002.zip)? You can find it attached to the first post. There you can also find a description on how to install it.

As to telnet and ftp, you need to install the package provided by KevinShort.

Yes, Update 2 is already on. I did not install telnet and ftp as I assumed they are not necessary, since they use different ports as compared to ssh and sftp.

I will try to go with the KevinShort package. What about the vlasovsoft folder? Is it …/usbnet or …/dropbear?

Both should work. This is how KSM tries to find the location:

I am sorry: I assumed that, as I read here, only the folder vlasovsoft/dropbear is required. The code you cite indicates that more than that is verified: …/vlasovsoft/launcher. What is the mimimum I should have for usbnet to work all right? Thank you a lot.

I guess usbnet is already working. But it might not do what you are expecting. You should, for instance already be able to have access to the device via the web interface. The package by KevinShort allows you telnet (I guess this is what you are using putty for) and ftp access, cf. this post.

If you need more safety, you can set a user password and use dropbear. To be able to start dropbear you need the folder vlasovsoft/dropbear (with all its content) in .adds, and you need .adds/vlasovsoft/launcher (this is just to satisfy KSM, but has no actual function in the dropbear business).

Simply wanted to chime in and report a successful install on the Kobo Aura H2O Edition 2 v1. Using KOReader in night mode, although I haven't messed much with it yet (it's been only minutes since I sucessfully installed KSM and KOReader).
Touch appears to work as intended, despite the first post warning about that.

I am glad it works for you. As for the warning, it is about Aura H2O Edition 2 v2.

If you want to try KSM 9 (including update 1), I think there is not much danger in doing so. But before that, give your device a chance to update to the latest FW to prevent that an update gets into the way later. It is also important that your device can connect to wifi, before you install KSM.

It is possible that the screen orientation is wrong, and/or that the device does not respond to touch. And the menu entries might be displayed too small. If one or several of the mentioned problems occur, KSM should still start nickel after 30 seconds or so.
We will try to make some test with the webinterface. Did you play around a bit with it on your Glo HD? Having some previous experience with the webinterface might be helpful. We will have to use it via wifi, because usbnet will not work.

The framebuffer orientation is wrong for plato on the Kobo Aura HD. Works for koreader however..
Basically the problem is that the screen is being drawn upside down. Furthermore the touch input was mirrored wrongly in the vertical axis. This persisted even when closing plato, up until a restart.

This is when it is being started by KSM v09.

Please extract KoboRoot.tgz and install it. I am somehow surprised that the mirrored touch input persisted.
