I thought he made a very interesting point
<<But the extra size also pushes the Aura*ONE into another realm, a psychological*one that's harder to measure, that has to do with the difference between hardbacks and paperbacks, and between non-fiction and fiction. There's something about the 7.8-inch screen on the*Aura*ONE that makes it feel luxurious, more like a hardback, and more apt for non-fiction reading, than the smaller e-readers that, love them as I do, always make me think of pulp fiction.>> |

A very good review and it was nice to see a good description of the Overdrive functions. He did miss on the the fact that he could convert Kindle books to Kepub and still see the reading statistics. Remind me not to go looking for a "refurbished" Aura One to save a few dollars! ![]() |

I will be pre-ordering one of these--my first Kobo.
This should alleviate some concerns over weight/handling: "Despite the added size, the Aura One remains comfortable in the hand, with just a tenth of a pound of added weight over the six-inch Kobo Glo HD and six hundredths of a pound over the Kindle Paperwhite. The thin 6.9 millimeter profile and textured back help as well." http://www.businessinsider.com/kobo-...parison-2016-8 |

Has anyone written a review that includes the sleep cover? The button on the back appears to be covered by the folded back front cover. This could make waking the Aura One a pain like the Voyage in Origami cover. I prop my readers and sleep on my side, often fall asleep and need to wake one up to read more. Hitting the button on the H20 is easier than waking up the Voyage.

Presumably you could just close the cover and reopen it. This would let the magnet in the cover wake up the device.

My Kindle Voyage has a button on the back like that and the case that comes with it has a circular opening to press the button through the case. It's also a sleep cover so I can open the cover or press the button if the cover is already open.
One of the things I like about the Voyage is that power buttton placement and I suspect users of the Aura One will like it as well. Barry |

Some of those pix make it look like there's a gap intentionally created between the folded-back cover and the back of the device/fitted cover, along the top. But it's really hard to tell for sure. (And is it enough to slip your finger into and press the button thru the custom hole in the fitted back part of the cover?) They did make a point of leaving open access to the USB port at the bottom, so maybe there's a design feature for accessing the back button, too. One of the other things I keep noticing in those pix is that the angled hinge part of the cover (that becomes the fold-out stand) can obviously swing either way, which makes me think it would be too floppy and/or wear out at the fold. But again, let's hope we can trust the design and materials are compensating for such issues (at that price - hopefully!). I do wish someone would review the cover, before it's time to make the quick decision at pre-order time! |
