Montgomery Bonbon: Death at the Lighthouse (Montgomery Bonbon #2) by Alasdair Beckett-King, illustrated by Claire Powell is £3 on Amazon UK (Kobo is full price but should be price-matchable)
The author is mostly known as a stand-up comedian and humorous video clips but he's also active in the indie adventure game community, and I've been following his work since 2007. (Check out his first adventure game Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! - it's also been remastered and available on Steam for $2, but this one is free)
Here's him introducing this book: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6inWr7X9IUE
Quote:
The second instalment in a brilliantly clever, funny and highly illustrated murder mystery series

The most troublesome thing about being a detective is that it is almost impossible to go on holiday.

When Bonnie Montgomery finally gets a break from cracking cases as her alter-ego, Montgomery Bonbon, something terribly fishy happens the moment she and Grampa Banks arrive on Odde Island for half-term – and it's not just the smell of the harbour. There's been a mysterious death at Leerie Lighthouse, and what everyone assumed was an accident is setting Bonbon's moustache all a-quiver: a sure sign that something is Highly Suspicious.

When a second death takes place on the other side of the island, Bonnie is sure the two are connected. But can she solve this case alone, or will she need double the detectives to solve double the murder?

I remember reading Mary Norton's Borrowers books when I was young, and liking them a lot. Now, today, the second book is on sale as part of the US Kindle Daily Deal for $2.99. But when I went poking around, I also found a collection of the five main Borrowers books on sale for $2.99 as well. So...

The collection contains: The Borrowers, The Borrowers Afield, The Borrowers Afloat, The Borrowers Aloft, and The Borrowers Avenged, and the blurb says it includes the original black-and-white drawings. I have no idea if these stories have withstood the passage of (lots of) time, but the collection has 4.7 stars at Kindle and 4.5 stars at GoodReads, so they've probably aged pretty well.

The Borrowers Collection

Oh, and if for some reason, you want to spend your $2.99 on just the second book instead, here you go:

The Borrowers Afield

Kobo US, not on sale, for price check/match purposes: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-borrowers-afield-3
