The Carta screen of the H2O is much nicer than the Pearl screens of he Sony T series.

@PatGIV
Unfortunately my T1s continue to crash regardless of yours, mine or anyone else's opinion. The T2 is OK but offers nothing that wasn't better implemented in the 650. Wireless operation is of no value to me whatsoever. @IorekB The cover looks nice but I'm not a fan of the cases that use straps to hold devices in place. I have a few like that for tablets. At about $20 cdn I will probably pass. @JSWolf I don't care what Kobo uses I won't touch anything Kobo with a barge pole. I've seen all the Kobo readers at the Indigo store that's just up the street from me. a) I was not impressed by either the fit or finish of the devices. b) Kobo has screwed me around over ebooks once too often. And in any event the H2O has no buttons. No buttons, no sale. |

@grumbles - What size text do you use? I've found the T1 can crash on some books IF you are using the top 1 or 2 sized font. Going smaller stops it.

@DoctorM
No specific font size. I'm just using whatever default font the book opens with. My T1s are just flakey. The T2 is adequate (just) and the T3s are OK (except for the cover that keeps falling off the red one.) None of the Android based readers are half as good as the 650 with PRS+. I suppose what I really want is a 650 with the screen from the T3. I don't want or need wireless and I definitely do not want front lighting of any sort. The readers I have will serve me until I can get a decent tablet with a high resolution AMOLED display. May be in a few years. Regardless, my T1s are flakey. |

I'm still a SONY fan.
I found this thread because I just ordered a PRS-T3S from Japan via ebay and I was looking around for info while I waited for Mr. Postman. It was kind of an impulse buy, since I'm perfectly happy with my little 350. In fact I have two 350s because I'm paranoid about ever finding another perfect e-reader again. Got the second one cheap on craigslist when everybody was switching to iPhone. Doh.
I go back 5 or 6 years to the PRS-600, their first touch-screen reader, a big heavy device with a dull grey-green screen that was extremely glare-y. It was ok, and I was the first kid on the block to have an e-reader. But after that, the 350 was heaven. It's in my knapsack or briefcase everyday everywhere I go. So the T3S arrived a week ago and I am quite pleased with it. The size and weight are great, and the build seems sturdy. The screen is about the same as the 350 for brightness and clarity, but the Android system is much faster than the old system. Page turns, book changes, everything is faster. Don't know about battery life yet, it just displays a full battery icon all the time. I guess it lasts a while. The 350 had Oxford English and Oxford American dictionaries; the T3 has only American. The 350 also had two-way dictionaries of French, Spanish, German, Italian and Dutch languages. The T3 lacks European languages, but has a great Japanese dic. Perhaps because it is a Japanese firmware, the T3 is good at displaying complex two-byte character sets. I am able to read Thai characters for the first time, and of course CJK. I really miss PRS-plus! That was a great project and I wish it would continue for the newer Android devices. My bias is that I am a simple book purist who only wants to read black and white text. I don't care about the ecosystem and the wifi and the social networks. And I don't read in the dark. So yeah, I'm happy with my Sony devices. |

@dancog - I believe the Japanese version of the T3 has some very specific difference to the North American version. For one, I'm assuming you are using the Japanese menu, since no one has found a way to convert those devices to English.
I also seem to recall the reduced number of dictionaries are also specific to that version. I would have loved to get the higher resolution of the T3, but they are quite hard to come by. I'm glad you're happy with your purchase. |

I'm with @grumbles - my T1 has always been a buggy mess. It got worse when I upgraded the firmware - to the one that ended up blocking rooting.
My T2 is more stable, and is still my preferred reader. I like Sony's default font, adore the on-device OverDrive support, the battery life is amazing, and Calibre collection building is a dream. My Kindle PW2 has the great backlight, but has lousy battery life and I just don't get Amazon's software. We're not mentally compatible. |

Still love and use my PRS-350. These little beauties fit nicely in my back pocket. One of the smallest lightest ereaders I've found. Even with the original covers these are very small. Perfect for travel, or just an afternoon at the park.
I tend to use a kindle at home because of the built in light, but if I leave home, I take my PRS-350. I just keep different books on each so I don't have to try to sync them. |

I have two 350s that are still in use. One is my reader for on the hoof, but the other has the lighted cover and is my reader for bed. I've found I prefer the light from the cover to that of my front-lit ereaders; the glare is less and the print is sharper when I'm reading in the dark with my bad eye.
The 350s are lovely. I still have a 950, too, but while I like the heft of it and its functionality and geography, I have to admit that the text is gray on gray. |

T1 arrgh
Thought I'd chime in, seeing all the T1 frustrations. I discovered ereaders only in the last 2 years, turning pages at night in bed in stealth mode so as not to wake up my neighbor got tedious. My first was a red T1 off eBay claimed to have been hardly used by a little old mother. Well, aside from not liking the red and covering it with a "wood" skin, I thought it was a fine working device until over time with more active and varied use it would get hung up in different states. I find that it doesn't like to do a lot of switching between tasks. It doesn't "crash" if I'm just reading one book, but if, for example, I delete the last book opened it gets a little confused. Or if I've had it in sleep mode with a book open, then go to use wifi (to download a book from the library) it will often get stuck. Sometimes a few clicks on the home button will at least get me back to home, but I've found that just restarting always gets things back to normal. Must be some kind of buffer issue maybe? Or poor garbage collection? I've noticed the quirkiness even more now that I have a T3 and a 350... Ah well, the appreciation of imperfection lays in the unexpected diversions.
