SCION - I hate to sound stupid but I just got my Nook rooted and have the market and all things Google but am not following the 'SoftKeys' config. I installed Zeam but then lost my Nook Home screen...sorry about being a little thickheaded about this but it took me about 5 hours to read all of XDA's posts re. the new AutoNook which works flawlessly but now don't know how to configure the launcher/softkey part. HELP Please

For those that have launcher pro running what version is it. I have tried to putting it on but the screen just goes black (with astro).

Have you installed the Home Switcher app? This allows you to choose which launcher you want as default. With this you can switch between "home screens". You can also configure SoftKeys to do this as well.

Use Home Switcher to set the default launcher to SoftKeys. Then go into SoftKeys and configure the settings the way you want. Use the info in the earlier posts as a guide. It is confusing initially. Reboot.

Overdrive works for me now. You need to get the Android Market up and running on your device. The process enables alot of stuff to work.

Quick thanks to everyone in this thread. I put the sd image together a few weeks ago but I was on the fence about whether to pull the trigger. In retrospect, rooting the Nook went much more smoothly than anticipated and I've managed to get it setup pretty much exactly how I wanted it.

Yes I installed Home Switcher but the only thing in the 'Config' area is to disable ads. At the home screen of Home Switcher all I see is Home (com.bn.nook.home) and I don't know how to add anything else.

Re. SoftKeys...is that an APK that is available in the Android Marketplace? Maybe that is the problem...I don't have SoftKeys installed and when I search in the MarketPlace for it I don't see it. Any ideas????

OK

In the Home Switcher App (as soon as you open it) it presents you with a choice of apps that can be your default home. At the very top it says "Your default Home app is..."

One choice is the default NOOKcolor home (called Home) which is like you said com.bn.nook.home

When you install the SoftKeys app that will be listed there as well. If you install a home replacement launcher (Launcher Pro, ADW, Zeam) that will be a choice as well.

You can get the SoftKeys app from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...00&postcount=1

Stick with version 1.10 for now. Many of us haven't upgraded to 1.2 and from the developer's notes it doesn't appear to be ready for primetime.

I just grabbed the Softkeys.apk directly from XDA

I went with the 1.10 version. Setting it up now wimilar to SCION's settings.

Thanks SCION and gabryael. I did find Softkeys on XDA's site but installed the 2.0 version and it won't uninstall so I guess I'm stuck with it for awhile. I can't seem to get to the Tools menu for Softkeys any longer. Argh! I also installed Zeam again then uninstalled it since it doesn't play nice with this Softkeys. I'll try the ADW launcher. Thanks you guys.

Are you using ADB to uninstall or a file manager like Astro? Did you reboot before trying to uninstall?

I used ADB to install SoftKeys...can I use Astro to uninstall? That would be convenient.


As an aside, remember your post of the cool wallpapers and you suggested 1024x1024 iPad...have you noticed that now the wallpapers don't extend all the way to the ends? If not maybe we should use a wider wallpaper? I'm just wondering.

I haven't noticed the wallpaper thing (yet). Actually, I haven't changed to a different wallpaper. Perhaps the change will show up then.

Yes, use Astro to uninstall. Just click on the soft menu button within the app. Select "Tools", then "Application Manager / Backup". Select the file to uninstall. Sometimes the double tap doesn't work and you have to "check it" then within the soft menu select "Uninstall".
