Seems to be something very interesting for reading in landscape mode but I can't figure out what it does exactly.

I think it's this PRS+ option. When you read in landscape mode each 'normal' page is split into two, top and bottom. Some lines from the bottom of the "top half" are repeated at the top of the "bottom half" - if that makes sense. These overlap lines can be displayed slightly greyed-out. I find it makes it easier not to lose my bearings when reading a PDF in landscape mode.

You can switch it on/off in PRS+ Settings - Book Viewer - Don't show overlap.

Okay, I'm trying again with the bind trick for large asian fonts. I've reflashed with PRS+ v2.0.13 and left it at that, without trying to PRS customise on top - I have a clean PRS+ installation, I believe. I have the following prsp.sh in /Data/database/system/PRSPlus

cp /Data/pg4066.epub /tmp
cp -R /tmp /Data/tmph
cp /Data/FONT/tt0011m_.ttf /tmp
mount --bind /tmp/tt0011m_.ttf /opt/sony/ebook/FONT/tt0011m_.ttf
cp -R /opt/sony/ebook/FONT /Data/Hold

the first two lines and last line to check that something is happening. However, I get no confirming copies into Hold or tmph, nor do my unicode files render (other than as boxes).

What am I doing wrong?

btw, both files expected by the script are where they should be in IM.

Thanks, I've checked it last night and it was a bit too dark to see the difference but under proper light I can see the difference.

Quite a nice feature to help you find easier the splitting line, makes it easier to continue reading from where you changed the page.

Pushed 2.0.14b to downloads to resolve 2.0.13b mess.
Tested only on 300 / 950, but is highly unlikely to cause particular problems on other supported models.

@raiderkilo,

I'm not sure I have fully understood your last 2 posts. Do you now have everything you need to achieve your goal?

For your extra information. You may find that different fonts look better at different sizes. So the 1.2em in the following bit of css should be changed to whatever size looks best for each PRS+ css file you create.
Code:
body {
font-family: serif;
font-size: 1.2em !important;
...}
Similarly, you might want to change the line-height: 130% to suit each font.

So, I've enjoyed the new "Cover as Screen Saver" option on my 650. I copied my entire database folder over onto my 950, and enabled it there as well.

Problem I'm running into is that book covers seem to render oddly on the 950. It's as if it is rendering into a 800x600 screen and then stretching the final image to the full height of the 950. Is this just a 950 bug, or possibly related to the copied database folder (I doubt it, but just want to check to be sure).

I have a 950 and my covers fill the entire screen. Then again, I installed the 950 version on my machine and didn't copy over the 650 install.

I didn't copy over a 650 install either, just books, thumbs, custom CSS files and so on.

The problem is that if I have an 800x600 cover, it fills the whole screen. If it honors the aspect ratio of the cover itself, it shouldn't be doing that. On the 650, it renders like the first page does, more or less. On the 950, it renders like a stretched version of what the 650 shows.

Personally (aspect ratio be damned) I like it filling the whole screen.

On the 950 what does the cover in the book look like? Does the cover in the book stretch on the 950? Was calibre involved in setting the cover in the book? If it was, try an experiment and convert a epub with the Preserve cover aspect ratio checked in epub output then delete the book and send it anew to see if it makes a difference.

I already tell Calibre to preserve aspect ratios. Not all of my covers are all the right shape. The first page renders fine on the 950, but not the screensaver made from the cover. At this point it looks like a bug in BookUtils assuming that the thumbnail is meant to be rendered into a 3:4 bitmap. The routine is the same on the 650 and 950, and I don't see anything wrong with it specifically.

I have also noticed that putting PRS+ settings at the top also messes with the reader when it wants to jump to a specific setting, since the indexes are all shifted by one. For example, tapping PageSync in a book when it is off takes you to the option, but not with PRS+. Instead it takes you to the option that is now in the slot the PageSync option was in.

Slightly off topic. I'm curious, I don't preserve aspect ratio. How does it preserve aspect ratio? Does the cover fill the screen with parts exceeding the edge of the screen or is the cover smaller than the screen with space above and below the cover?

If the "bug" is fixed I hope the option to "fit to screen" still exists.
