I did the same with Christmas and Birthday gifts for my son too, especially since we noticed that the bags and wrapping/bows were more exciting for him to play with. Art supplies and books were the next most used along with legos. The large legos were perfect and we gradually moved to the smaller ones. I still have 3 big 18 gallon storage tubs in the garage of his old legos, that he wanted saved; so, I guess they have special memories for him. Oh, stamps and ink with lots of paper were favorites too. He would help decorate bags that we used for gift bags. Seriously, I found simple things were used and enjoyed more than expensive toys.

Ah, made it to the local Peet's outlet to stock up on a couple of my favourite teas, and while I was there, had them brew me a big mug of Phoenix Mountain Oolong. Which I am now happily drinking. I love this Contigo mug/cup. I got the tea over an hour ago, and it's still hot and quite delicious.

Making a conscious effort to not drink alcohol during the week. So, failing miserably, I have a glass of Cotes du Roussillon at the moment. I'll blame a bad day at work!

Second mug of tea.

I love the photos, Stitchawl. I used to be seriously into 35mm photography (Contax RTS, handful of lenses and many filters), but I've tapered off. I have a couple of consumer grade digital cameras that I like a lot. The only filter I carry around these days is a polarizer.

I really wish we could read their minds because I would love to know what he is thinking. I know that what he is doing is not random and that he is learning. Fine motor skills opening and closing things. Hey I stick this in hear and shake it and it makes noise. Ohhh the lid is kind of cool. Colors (green, blue, red) and all sorts of stuff but it just seems so random.
I am going to have to save my next tea tin to give to Alex. He seems to have more fun with boxes and plastic bottles than with toys. His favourite toy is the remote control, though. I swear, he could find that thing if I hid it on a remote island.

Right now he is playing with the cookie tins that are on the shelf below the tea tins. If it makes him happy and won't hurt him then I am fine with it.

And tupperware, measuring cups, and measuring spoons. We keep all of that in drawers that he can reach in the kitchen. He has something safe to play with when we cook.

OK, I am now a completely devoted user of this Contigo mug. I've been using it for ages for cold drinks, including carbonated, and it works amazingly well. And absolutely does not spill, ever. Keeps my diet coke cold for hours and hours. But today I used it for a mug of Oolong and it was amazing. 3 hours after I filled the mug, it was still hotter than "warm". And it allows sipping as the meeting goes on, without thinking about it or having to manually close/open, etc. This is just the best mug I've found. Full stop.

Sadly, though, the tea is gone. And I'm back to diet coke. In the same mug.

I am also a fan of that mug. In fact every time you see me mention "travel mug" or something like that in this thread, it is one of those mugs.

Hey hey. hey hey, baby, hey.
Hey hey. hey hey, baby, hey.
I love you baby,
Sure aint gonna be your dog.

Hey hey. hey hey, baby, hey.
Hey hey. hey hey, baby, hey.
My arms around you baby,
All I can say is hey.

Thank goodness the words to this song are easier to learn than the picking pattern!

Good morning, everyone! Must be getting cooler... I saw three flights of Ballooning tourists early this morning. They only run the flights if it's cool enough to get the big envelops and baskets up. They offer hotel pickup, a two-hour flight over the Chiang Mai basin, and champagne when you land. All for just $300! Better be some damn good champagne...

I've got my breakfast champers here; Unbranded Keemun tea! I'm sure when I run out, I'll be willing to spend hundreds to find more. I love this stuff!

Thanks! Learning this new HDR stuff is fun! It's renewed my photography enthusiasm considerably. If you do much landscape/seascape shooting or even outdoor shots with lots of sky/nightime shots with lots of bright streetlights, you might look into 'graduated neutral density' filters. They do an incredible job of balancing out bright skies over darker ground or bright streets over dark skies. When used together with a polarizer in early mornings or late afternoons, the results are dramatic!

Ah, see, it has a built in CPU that detects the current state and provides the necessary energy to maintain that state. Much smarter than I am, obviously.

Mug filled with Diet Coke this morning. And it's cold. :P

Pass that Talisker here, please.

You need this mug. Even when your coworker knocks it over, it won't spill. Though if it has a carbonated beverage in it, you'll get a blast of CO2 when you go to take a drink out of it.
