Welcome, stevenaleach. With a tea choice like that, I'll venture to guess that you're not from the US and likely not from North America. But that's OK, we welcome even Coke Zero drinkers here, so pull up a chair and have a seat. The kettle's on the the hob, the scones are fresh out of the oven, and there's a plate of biscuits if you prefer.

Finishing my night off with just a drop of Lagavulin.

Actually, I am from the US. Ohio, in fact .-) I'm currently residing in Cleveland, having recently returned to the area after spending a rather long year and a half in Kentucky.

No, just returned from the back beyond .-) I spent about a year and a half living in an RV in Kentucky - with no refrigerator. So living off store-able goods is something I'm used to. Now I'm back in Cleveland, OH - but renting a basement "apartment" with no refrigerator.

Well, there's my assumptions shot to heck! Welcome. I used to have friends in Cleveland. (Actually one may still be there.) This was when I was managing several projects working with Allen-Bradley's Engineered Systems as the contractor. Over the space of several years I got to know several of them quite well, and learned a lot from them. It was quite interesting, a couple of years later, when I was suddenly on the other side of the software development divide.

My large glass of fresh squeezed orange juice is gone.
But a big mug of Peet's English Breakfast tea (the last of the 1/4 Lb tin) should do the job of warming me up and waking me up.

Second mug of tea. Not Red Rose brand, although that was my grandmother's favorite brand.

Second mug of Peet's English Breakfast. But I'm not going to get a third steeping out of this I'm afraid.

The eastern world, it is exploding
Violence flarin', bullets loadin'
You're old enough to kill, but not for votin'
You don't believe in war, but what's that gun you're totin'
And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin'
But you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don't believe
We're on the eve
of destruction.

A hit single in 1965, and just as true today as it was more than 45 years ago... Something to keep in mind as we pay respects to the Veterans today..

Good morning, everyone! For the final time this decade we can enjoy the numbers... it's 11/12/13. We'll have to wait until 2023 to do it again. Except if you use the Thai calender phrasing of 12/11/13, where by one could have 12/13/14 next year. I think.
Anyway, I'm drinking my new locally bought "English Breakfast" tea, and getting ready to tackle the Lydian mode on my guitar, and some of Miles Davis's jazz work. It's way above my pay grade, but what the heck!

Hey Charlie!! Try and get some of that 'Red Rose' tea, if you can. It's one of the few commercial teas that really can hold its head up among the top runners. It won't win the Gold, but it comes darn close!

Red Rose is well known here. Though for that matter I can get Yorkshire (red and gold both) at one of the local markets. But only as tea bags. As you may have noticed, I don't do tea bags unless I make them myself.

What I've noticed is that most "English Breakfast" teas leave me cold. Too much Ceylon, I think, though I might have that wrong. What I like about the Peet's English Breakfast, or the Murchie's Prince Charles, is that they brew quite acceptably at 195F. (In fact the Murchie's is better at 195. The Peet's equal, if different. )

A diet coke this evening. Not a good day. Critical server is failing, and I have nothing in the budget for repairs or replacement. I get to nurse it along for at least another month.

We use DD/MM/YY here in the UK as well. You can't get 12/13/14 though - there's no 13th month . You can with the American MM/DD/YY though.

We use the day-month-year calender too and our 11/12/13 will come in December! Nice date for a wedding!

Here at work we numerate our releases as yy.mm.dd, so a 13/12/11 is probably going to happen in a month or so (without time travel that's not possible anywhere).

DD/MM/YY is obviously correct though!

We have a weird and unpredictable mix here. Being so close to the US, we get a lot of MM/DD/YY, but the official is DD/MM/YY. OTOH, we also regularly use YY/MM/DD. Mostly it has made me move to the DD Mon YYYY format for normal use to ensure being clear, since otherwise it often isn't.

Murchie's Russian Caravan this morning. Clearly what this weather calls for.

Too much of nothin' can make a man feel ill at ease
One man's temper might rise, while the other man's temper might freeze.
In the days of long confessions, we can not mock a soul
When there's too much of nothin', no one has control.
Say hello to Valerie, say hello to Marion,
Send them all my salary, on the waters of oblivion.

Too much of nothin' can make a man abuse a king
He can walk the streets and boast like most but he don't know a thing.
It's all been done before, it's all been written in the book.
But when it's too much of nothin', nobody should look.
Say hello to Valerie, say hello to Marion,
Send them all my salary, on the waters of oblivion.

Good morning, everyone! Friday the 13th arrived on a Wednesday this month. Be careful out there! I've already broken to guitar strings this morning, and it's only 8am! Well, truth be told, I was trying some pretty strange tunings which really stressed them, but it was still a bother!
What is NOT a bother is the mug of unbranded Keemun tea I'm drinking. That never fails to please me! Nor will the breakfast coming up from the Food Lady downstairs. I do believe she is making her foods even spicier than ever! But the taste... Wow! Simply fantastic! And at one dollar for some sort of healthy main dish, a veggie omelet, a bit of pork, chicken, or fish, and rice, and all of it tasting great, I am in heaven! Best of all is that it's still under 600 calories! I'd better make another mug of tea and get downstairs and get it before it's all sold out!

KK... you asked for pictures before... Here are some of the same sort, not taken by me of her, but just about the same. 'My' Food Lady doesn't make a pretty a presentation, so I haven't been able to get the shots that I like of her stand. She puts more of her stuff into the little plastic take-away bags so people can ride up on their motorscooters and grab stuff quickly. Most of her stand is covered with plastic bags full of different foods.
