Christmas, glühwein, oliebollen (kind of round donuts) at New Year, the flu, and a lot of stomach-ache, so I actually couldn't eat (now almost cured

). I have to be a bit sensible these days; have started to drink a liter of water per day as well.

But I'm downloading all these nice pics of chocolate for future reference of course.

Listening to the possums. As foghorn leghorn used to say. They're making more noise than a couple of skeletons having an epileptic fit on a tin roof. We have a tin roof.

Really? What kind of sound do they make?

Our possums here are virtually silent, unless cornered. Also because when you see them they're usually smashed in the road.

It's the sound of big possums chasing little possums out of their territory and occassionally spinning out of control over and over as they roll down the steeper parts of the tin roof. Imagine a footrace from one end of the roof to the other and back with two or more four footed friends. It's become so common that one day a couple of burglars will walk across the roof and we'll ignore it.

Oh! Some people around here don't like possums. I suppose I just like to live and let live. I got into trouble today at the pub for saying that snakes need sanctuary from the floods as well. I occasionally play my music too loud for the neighbors.....but at least they don't beat me over the head with a shovel or swerve to hit me in their truck and yet my noise is much louder.

That is so funny! We have that problem here sometimes with tree squirrels. And one time I had a big den of flying squirrels take up residence in the attic above the apartment I lived in at the time. I could hear them scratching around as they started to wake up in the evenings, and if I went out on the balcony around dusk I could watch them as them popped out from under the eaves, one by one, and sailed over to the trees.

Sounds a bit like squirrels on my patio roof.

I'd miss them if they weren't there because I remember other noises outside our town house just aftere we were were married twenty five years ago. I'll take wildlife noise over those noises any time.
