Thanks all. He is a great guy but it can be unpleasant being in the office with him. With the way our space is designed, I don't have much choice but to stay in this office. The only other option is a large, open area which does not work well for me because of ADHD.

The Vent and Rant Thread
I worked with a fellow who headed for the elevators whenever he felt the need to release those toxic emissions. Not so great if you saw him walking off just as the doors closed. And we had one woman of mature years who would catch unsuspecting people alone in the elevators and ask them if they'd like to hear her "duet." In my first meeting with her I said I suppose that would be okay at which point she got in my face and began howling like a soprano with her foot caught under a baby elephant, and alternating that with a bass line that sounded like a really angry and constipated Batman. Traveling the elevators in our building always incurred a certain degree of personal risk.

Oh my.
Keep in mind, I ordered a Bernie Sanders coffee mug to carry around the office only to watch my office mates heads explode. I work with many a Trump supporter. Clarification: I ordered the mug just to mess with my co-workers heads because I know it will set off 90% of them and I find that fun. It does not necessarily reflect who I ma voting for but I know I will get some great reactions. Hey, they fart, cough, burp and keep the temps low enough that I need a sweater and a blanket in the office. I get to laugh my ass off at their face when confronted with a coffee mug. Wet leaves! Tracked into the house!
![]() It's autumn - leaves are falling - and we've had rain now for over a week .... So we're tracking in wet leaves & leaving them on carpets, etc. Where in dim light you can't tell if it's a large bug (that needs stomping), a cat 'boo-boo' from the litter box (DON'T stomp it), a hair ball (get the Resolve), or what! .... Especially if you don't have your glasses on! Sigh ... life can be an adventure ... |

Ugh. I've been getting calls from unknown numbers that don't leave a message. I did a little investigating (Google) and found out it is "Midland Credit Management."
This freaked me out as I don't have any bad debts. I even ran to the annual credit report site to make sure someone didn't identity-thieve me. I didn't see anything there that shouldn't be and nothing negative. Must be scammers. I blocked them on my phone. |

I get one every 3 days from Consumer Advocates. "This is Bridget calling about your current credit card account".
No she is not legitimate. I get texts from one bank that my Mastercard has been blocked. Please click this link. My thought is I don't have a Mastercard. I called the bank. No, it isn't actually them. |

Yet another scam. Block the number and ignore. We have two levels of blocking - the phone blocks with a single ring (we kind of enjoy hearing those single rings!), and for numbers that we never want to ever hear from, we have 10 slots we can have blocked at the telco, they never get to us at all.

Hopefully it is just scammers. There are a couple of ways that can cause a call with no caller. First, the scammers assume that a certain percentage of their calls will go unanswered so they program their autodialers to call far more people than they can actually handle -- they wind up hanging up on some people, but they don't waste their agents' time with calls that go to answering machines. Or, they may just be "prospecting" for telephone numbers that get answered by real people, and they package that list up for other scammers.
On the other hand, a few years ago I had a miserable experience with a debt collection company. They had bought up an unpaid credit card account and were trying to collect on it. The person involved had the same first and last name as mine, but a different middle name -- and I always use my middle initial. His last known address was in my town, but on a different street -- and I've lived here almost 25 years. It would have been pretty easy to check these facts out, but not as easy as harassing me in an effort to get me to pay. They called early in the morning, threatened legal action, finally resorted to yelling at me (and my wife) and calling us unpleasant names. I finally went online and got the contact info for the Federal Trade Commission. From there I called their offices. They couldn't get involved in my case specifically, but they spent time with me bringing me up to speed on the laws, and how the collections company was violating them. They also emailed me a lot of useful information. I got one more call from the company, used the info I got from the FTC, followed it up with a letter to the collections company, and the calls stopped. If you're in the States and have this kind of problem, I strongly suggest you visit the FTC's site. http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles...ebt-collection |
