As of right now, there are no factory firmwares available. I regret to inform everyone that there is no more software jailbreak here for any kindles.

You might try googling for other sites with the jailbreak.

The media fire ( secondary ) links may still work? I am at work and cannot check.

I have a mirror of all of the factory images, but I seem to recall some conversations about whether Amazon gave someone permission to host them or not.

It appears from earlier posts that this should work. But the only files I can find start with "update_" since the Kindle is unfortunately smart enough to know it isn't an upgrade, are there any BIN files out there that are not updates? Or has someone successfully compiled the Amazon source code?

"Update" is a required substring in the name.
It has nothing to do with the direction of any change in firmware version number.

Everything you need to know is in the first post - do not let yourself get distracted.

I followed directions to the letter - missing was the fact that after the factory reset you must re-register the Oasis. As soon as registered, I put it into airplane mode, confirmed it was running 5.8.2.1, and created directory update.bin.tmp.partial.

I then moved the KOA 5.7.4 bin file to the Kindle. When complete, I unplugged it. As soon as the USB connection screen disappeared, I received the message "Update Error. An invalid update file has been loaded on your device."

I plugged it back in and the Kindle had deleted the BIN file.

So please, what am I missing here?

I tried as recommended above. I tried a lot of things - including 4 different found versions of 5.7.4. The 4th one worked. If you're breaking an Oasis, the one that works is on MediaFire:

The versions on Amazon, Softpedia, and (can't remember now..) don't work with an Oasis - even though they claim they do.
