Seems to be working great on KA1, fw 4.0.7523 with the two added daylight sections noted on github. Auto suspend set to 10 minutes works well, too.

It should also be noted that Tshering has issued a patch, to KSM8, for the Kobo Aura One. It addresses an issue with WiFi in Nickel.

Edit: Tshering is taking another look at the patch for the new Kobos.

Luck;
Ken

Problem! I discovered when I actually started using koreader last night that the frontlight immediately reduced considerably when koreader was started. I have always used koreader in nightmode (on the KV and h2o) and with a low light intensity (less than 10) The KA1 seems very bright to me and 5 or less works for me in the dark in nickle, but with koreader I was having to up it to somewhere around 20. And then I noticed the serious battery drain while suspended. So I'm back to some testing. I can't start koreader now with the changes I've made so I may end up starting over.

EDIT 9/12: Koreader on Aura One seems to be fine now but I'll be checking the battery drain tonight.

Thank you so much for the work you've done on this.

Aura One: In about 9 hours last night with koreader allowed to suspend and open about four times during the night (I wake up and read a bit then fall asleep with the cover open), the battery went from 94% to 78%. So far today in six hours with nickle showing a book and awakened periodically, it's gone down to 76%. I've done every fix I can find and although I don't have a problem charging it every couple days, I think something is still amiss. I'm using fmon. The light intensity definitely has to be higher in koreader than nickle--23 as opposed to 2 in nickle.

It's a known issue for all Kobo devices and they're working on it. It looks like they might be really close to figuring it out/fixing it. You can track the progress of the bug here:

A long time ago I was able to mod the keyboard of Kobos firmware for working with both languages - English / Greek (based of the GeoffR patch).
There's be a patch or modification to add another language in Koreader's keyboard?
Searching for a specific work in Greek in a epub on KOR is, really, a PITA! (in specific words, is almost impossible...)

Thnks!

There are 2 files in the attached archive.
Copy the "greek.lua" to \Koreader\frontend\ui\data\keyboardlayouts\ folder and replace the "virtualkeyboard.lua" (you better keep the original backed-up) in \Koreader\frontend\ui\widget\ folder.

Hi there, wanted to ask if there are any plans to implement natural light option from KA1 into koreader settings? its an amazing feature when reading during nightime, its way much better on eyes than the "classic" blue light option. would be fantastic if koreader supported this.

You could add it as a FR (feature request) "issue" over at the KOReader project at Github.

Hi all,

First off I want to thank the many contributors who work on koreader, and the main dev (Ken, I believe?), for their work on this amazing piece of software.

I have been using koreader for over a year, first on my mini, and recently moved to the Glo HD.

I saw some references to an automagic sleep mode in the sourcecode, but I have not managed to activate it. Is it in there, and how would I go about activating it?

The reason that I'm asking is that I sometimes forget to make it go to sleep via the powerbutton, and the flip cover case I have doesn't work as a sleepcover.

First - I am not a developer over at the KOReader Project. ( Just a frequent kibitzer. )

It is set at 1hour (There was a reason, at the time.) I change mine to 8 min, like so:

In /koreader/frontend/ui/uimanager.lua
By default, the timeout is set to 60*60 (1 hour). You can change it by tweaking the reader setting auto_suspend_timeout_seconds . To 480 for 8 min. Around line 730.
I guess I could have made it 60*8.

Luck;
Ken

Hi Ken,

Thank you for the prompt reply

It seems that this part of the code is completely missing from my copy of uimanager.lua.

Apparently the last pre-compiled stable release does not have these settings.

I have downloaded the latest pre-compiled nightly, and have just tested it with 300 seconds. works like a charm!

About setting auto suspend time (when you have version that supports it), you also can use settings, there's no need to edit encoded default value.

Info you can found here: https://github.com/koreader/koreader...ment-247242254

Quote:
The autosleep timeout can be set in the settings.reader.lua file (in the koreader folder, koreader has first to be started (and closed?) in order for it to be created).

There you can add a line to set timeout in seconds, such as below (where the time is set to 240seconds, meaning 4 minutes). Take note that the lines, except the last one, are seperated by a comma:

["auto_suspend_timeout_seconds"] = 240
