How about starting with a Sharpie (i.e. magic marker pen)? Then you can re-do as needed; or change to your other ideas, since you have to many other ideas.

1. “Vulnerant omnes, ultima necat.” (All [hours] wound, the last kills.)

2. Another Latin by way of Gaiman: Omnia mutantur, nihil interit (from Ovid, popularized in Sandman. It means everything changes, nothing perishes).

6. These birds my great grandmother drew as a child
7. "All life is One" from Bryson's A Brief History of Everything with a small globe.
8. "What is any ocean but a multitude of drops" from Cloud Atlas (with raindrops or something).
9. A half-read book is a half-finished love affair from Cloud Atlas. With a book.
10. If I do get a tattoo, I'll probably start with a semi-colon (small, simple, probably inexpensive).
1. Pain

Tattoos are painful depending on where they are located. General rule of thumb...the "fattier" the area the less painful it is...but no matter where they are located they will hurt while being applied.

Having said that I have always found the toughest part of a tattoo is the healing...you cannot scratch it (if you remove the scab the ink will oftentimes go with it) and the itching will drive you batty.

That is a good point, RP. That would drive me batty, indeed.

FACING DEATH AT 6:00 AM!!!!

So ... another rainy gloomy day ... the cats assist my removal from the bed ... stumble in the darkness into the bathroom ... switch on light ... eyelids snap shut .... then open gradually .... approach tub for morning ablutions .... happen to glance down at bath rug ... reach up to open shower curtain .... sudden small scream erupts in oldest part of brain [the part that used to scream 'saber tooth tiger dead ahead'] ... look back down at rug ... rub bleary eyes ... focus ... THERE! ... where the corner of the rug meets the corner of wall and tub ... SPIDER LEGS! LOTS of them! .... Well, eight at least .... the dastardly creature froze when the light switched on, hoping to attack when my naked feet approached the tub ....

Well .... two can play the game .... I quietly raced to the hall closet ... feverishly located the can of Black Flag Spider spray.... snuck back into the bathroom ... still lurking ... do I hear a tiny smug chuckle? ....

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTT!

Death on the bathroom floor!

I'll let you folks decide which one of us survived and is typing this report....

<ROF, LU.> Really, you must stop making me laugh out loud with a full mouth of Major Dickason's Blend coffee!!

You do know, btw, that chickens will gladly eat spiders. Just turn a couple loose in the bathroom and let them clean up the nasties.

Charlie, Charlie, Charlie:

From Pooh's description, I'd say that there already WAS a chicken in the bathroom, snookums.

Hitch
It was a BIG spider!

[N.B. Earlier this year I had been viciously attacked whilst showering .... bit me 4 times on the wrist before I even knew it was on me .... felt the soap stinging in the open wounds ... so I'm a teensy bit wary of arachnids in the bath]
