no, i read it ! but just once. it was one of those books where i couldn't actually *stop* reading it (although i sort of wished i'd never started it...), so i read the whole damned thing, but i probably left the light on all night for a week afterwards. the worst of it was that i was really not expecting it at all, since none of her other books are scary, so it took me by surprise. i guess in a way that's a recommendation, since despite it not being her habitual genre / style, it's very effectively done.

I couldn't put it down either. I just had to know. Absolutely riveting Didn't scare me enough though, I feel asleep right after I was done

Didn't have that effect on me. I loved it, but it didn't scare me. the only book that ever scared me enough so that it made me uncomfortable to read it was Stephen Kings "PetSematary". Read it once and not to keen on reading it again.

heh. you're lucky. i've got this problem called "hyperactive imagination" which can embroider elaborate and terrifying extrapolations starting from even the simplest of images, completely out of my control. a book like that one is just gives it far too much to work with !

Not at all sweet lady. Just trying to convince you that you are missing out on a truly good read. "The Stand" is a seriously good book IMHO

Pfft... easy solution, buy a big goggie who's afraid of the dark, make strange noises, goggie gets scared and gets up in the bed. Read scary books, cuddle goggie, go to sleep! No problem!

If you want to try a Stephen King, I'd suggest Misery. The premise is rather creepy, but I found the book itself to be rather funny...
