I could spy on my birds 24/7! And freak them out by talking to them when I'm not there!

Better not. I have a cheap phone in there for surveillance now.

I need outdoor POE models with at least 1080P, my Amcrest/Foscam/Blue Iris system is getting a bit long in the tooth, and a cloud based system would alleviate the need to keep a computer running 24/7.

If Jeff's kids can get the Video Security arena right I might be tempted to upgrade.

Can you recommend a white noise skill, sound of moving air it's too cold for a/c and it's so quiet and noisy at the same time.

Yeah both of these are what I was doing already. It just doesn't always seem to recognise it. I can get it to sometimes recognise books from Audible. I haven't tried podcasts on Spotify for a while. I can tell you that "Play [name of podcast] on Spotify" was getting a music track or artist with a similar name.

Thanks for this, I didn't know you could check what Alexa heard.

Still getting the issue with Spotify randomly resuming after it's been playing and then switched off. For example I started playing a playlist last night, set a sleep timer - which worked but then it woke me up an hour or so later by resuming the playlist.

I can't find a Spotify Action in the home page of the Alexa app but then I started playing it from the Spotify phone app. I did that because I thought it might resolve the problem.

I am using it more than I thought I would. I use it every day for an alarm and to get the news and weather. It just feels like it's almost there but not quite with some features and so when they don't work it's frustrating.

BTW is it possible to set an alarm that plays music or the radio?

As far as I know, Alexa only understands English.

There are several skills that will translate English to foreign languages, but not the other way around.

Here are the ways I'm aware of hearing what Alexa heard in there Alexa app:

1. From the home page, in the details as described above. This list, IIUC only shows items that Alex understood (or thinks she understood) and gave a response to.

This will show you, IIUC all sound snippets that activated Alexa, even if she did nothing in response or just said "I don't understand."

3. You used to be able to get the audio snippet of each item from the Shopping list, which was great when you see "Arrow Grease Snarls" on the list while you're at the store and you REALLY want to know what it was you actually said you needed...but that appears to be missing from the current version of the app.
