Well, I broke down in the middle of Elysian Fields Ave. on Friday afternoon. For those of you who don't know New Orleans, that is a main artery between river and lake. And I was in the left lane. I put my hazard lights on but so many people almost hit the back of my car. Thankfully, they didn't.

I won't bore you with the details but, if the repairs are going to be more than 2k, I'm going to be using the buses for the foreseeable future. Thankfully, I do live with my mother and she just sold her vehicle, my step-father's old, standard truck, which I can't drive, and is buying my brother's old Corolla but the brakes on THAT need fixing. I spent 2k on my kitty cat this year (she is doing great now) and spent 1k on the car back in Oct., so I am limited in repair/replacement.

It'll be too hot for me from tomorrow, today temperatures are supposed to reach 26C/79F, which is already getting too warm for me. Tomorrow and Thursday the prediction is that temperatures will rise up to 32C/90F and on Saturday we'll might reach 36C/97F. The weathermen and women happily tell us that it won't be as bad because it'll be a dry heat instead of the normal sticky heat we got.

I now have to decide whether or not to take my fan with me to the store when I'm working. It'll be a great relief, but chances are my father will sell it to a customer, it has happened before.

I ate a cracker at 2 this morning! First solid food since Friday!

We're in the same range this week, and it looks to last for the next 10 days or so. I'm already REALLY tired of it. Stay hydrated, and no matter how silly it looks, take a kitchen towel, soak it in cold water, squeeze out a bit, and wrap around your neck. Repeat as required. Looks silly, but it does help.

This weekend the Tour de France starts in our city and between 700,000 and 900,000 tourists are expected (that's 7 to 9 times as much people as during King's Day when the city is very full), when you're in the inner city with all those people temperatures will rise between 40 and 50C/104 and 122F .

My way of coping is to drink a lot of water, eat a lot of fruit and regularly use a wet wash cloth to cool off and take it easy.

Wow! That is awful! More hot than New Orleans right now and pretty much every place here as good AC.

I assume (and hope!) those temperatures are only reached when standing with lots of people together. Big buildings have AC, but hardly any regular households have it, maybe a portable one. Luckily, it doesn't often get this hot and a regular fan will do.

I'm now waiting for the temperature to drop to below the temperature in my bedroom so I can open the window for the night.

Oh, every private home, however humble, has AC here. At least a window unit in the bedroom (and it would only be that for the poorest. Most have Central Air and Heat). Can't sleep otherwise.

So, I'm finally home for the summer, and within one week, already a mentally deranged family member has managed to put the front door key somewhere "safe" instead of in the outdoor key safe where it belongs. I swear this place is mentally retarded...

When do I find this out? Right after I get back from someone else's house, and discover that everyone else in my family went to the eye doctor.
No one brought their goddamn phone with them. The front door is locked, and I have no way of getting in or contacting anyone to discuss the matter with sharp pointy sticks.
And of course it is really hot today, as it has been pretty much any day that it isn't raining buckets.
