I'm just having to extend, not completely redrill, that might be why it seems low.

Believe me I thought about crowd funding but everyone and their cat seem to be doing it right now, at least locally. There might be a 401k that can be tapped into. I have a ruby I could sell. Some guns and oriental carpets I could maybe get loans on. Not willing to part with those.

I was hoping there might be something specific to water that someone might know of.

Still and all, I won't have water for a week yet. I bought 50 gallons last night. I'm hauling water out of the pond for the veggies and toilets. Going to a friend's house tonight for the first shower in 4 days. I've done 2 weeks without in the Army so this isn't too bad. I know I'm going to have to hit the laundromat soon which I loathe. And then there's the dishes.

I remember THIS from a development I did back in.....2005?..that needed some funding for a big, commercial well. We didn't qualify, but I remember the program: http://www.rd.usda.gov/programs-serv...-grant-program . The VA has well-drilling and water loans for old broads like us, that served, but, KK, if memory serves, it's the usual turnaround time for them, so...ALSO, go to this page: http://www.rd.usda.gov/programs-serv...-system-grants and (no, no, don't be hasty), scroll down to the part that says "Note: Homeowners seeking a loan should contact us for details on non-profits participating in this program." That might help, if they have a non-prof that could help, even if it's only partial. IIRC, most of these have fairly sweet repayment terms.

Lord. I'm more worried about your critters and dishes than the whole "no bathing thing," as anyone who ever served has gone at LEAST two weeks without, and has extraordinary expertise in ho-baths. I assume you've put out a solar catch, and that you have a rainbarrel ready, just in case?

OMG, KK! That is so awful. I was without water for a month once. I was living in a converted barn and the landlady (my Mom, actually) was in Canada for the summer when a pipe broke underground out in the yard and a) created a huge water bill and b) was going to require expensive repairs. Thankfully, the cottage house wasn't affected, we just had to have water shut off to the barn. I say thankfully because Mom had a paying tenant in the cottage house. Anyway, I bought gallons of Kentwood and poured them over me in the shower stall after shampooing/soaping. Heh. Good times.

Most we had was the water out for 4 days. BUT, they were xmas eve, xmas, boxing day and the day after! Try cooking xmas dinner with no water! Fortunately, we have an Endless Pool, and could use it as a water source. Had to go buy a new pump that would go up two stories, but then we were fine.

I have a pond that I can haul from for toilet and garden water. The horses can drink there if I am with them otherwise they get into the fruit trees and vegies. I've only grilled since this started so that I don't have dishes. That's not too bad as I'm almost better cooking over an open fire.

It's camping without the fun

Yeah. That was a saving grace for me (during the waterless month in the converted barn, the pond for toilet water. I'm so sorry. At least I didn't have a relative with cancer.

Thank god.

Did you find financial assistance? I mean...it's none of our business, of course, but...I know you were saying you needed help with it. Any grants, or anything?

(And, of course, feel COMPLETELY free to not answer this. I genuinely am not being nosy, just didn't know if there was any research, whatever, any of us could do to help?)

No, I don't mind at all, especially since this, has been especially mind opening for me. It is obvious that this is a location that we are going to have an earthquake not if but when and knowing that there are not emergency provisions for things like water in our county is very disturbing to me. I am very active with local politics and services so I find this extremely troubling and it has been very educational for me and I will continue to follow up on this.

and oh yeah, it was hacking into the 401 K which is also disturbing because there are a lot of people that do not have that ability.
