The sneeze itself seems to help release some of the built up tension and help restore normal breathing

A little over a month ago I shelled out 1800 for a new pump for my well. That didn't fix my problem. I now rarely have water. The well is going to have to be extended and they can't get here until next week. I have horses, pets, a food garden and a family member with a cancer condition that requires a great deal of water based cleansing. Not to mention cleaning cooking and eating.

ARRRRGGHHHH!

I assume you have water tanker delivery services, like we do here? Do you have an easily accessible tank? (We're constantly seeing this type of well-failure out here in the desert; the aquifer level lowers, a drought--wells have to be redrilled, or worse, you have to drill a new one in a different location.) I know it's a pain, but a filled tank is better than trying to do what you're doing from other options?

no, I live in the Rain FForest, we typically don't run out of water. I've some messages out in the community to see if there is any sort of emergency relief. even a good ol' Army Water Buffalo would help!

Regarding panic attacks -- In addition to yoga and the other advice mentioned, a brief period (15 to 20 minutes) of daily meditation might be helpful. I haven't had a full-blown panic attack since the 70s, but my anxiety levels have been rising recently. and I've gotten back into it.

one thing that bugs me a lot, is the disinterest shown by South Africans to "protect" out literary history. I got a nasty PM on FB after sharing the link to the book I uploaded yesterday, the lady told me how awful I am, since It's Piracy. But then a lot of people don't have a clue about copyright and how it works, not even our law know how it's made.

Out law states:
Chapter 1. (3)(2)(a)
literary or musical works or artistic works, other than photographs,
the life of the author and fifty years from the end of the year in
which the author dies.

Chapter 1. (3)(2)(f)
published editions, fifty years from the end of the year in which
the edition is first published.

so reading it (layman style) The book is copyrighted life +50 years or 50 years after the edition being printed which brings lots of grey areas in)

So an imaginary author who died in 1970's would still be in copyright under Chapter 1. (3)(2)(a), yet technically under Chapter 1. (3)(2)(f) his book that he published (first edition) in 1951 would be out of copyright. (and yes I've had this discussion with a copyright lawyer here and they want to redo the copyright law to get rid of this "grey area" )

1923 and Langehoven died in 1938, so all his writings are in PD, but not available in PD.

That's the sad state Afrikaans literature is in, most of the writings of the writers of that era, are "forgotten" and deemed not worth scanning, since there is a copy of it in the state library (and yes that was an answer I once received)

That is pretty pathetic. And pretty pathetic that the random FB nut didn't bother to actually find out what book she was talking about before accusing you of pirating it.

"Its a book on the internet! EVULZ!!!"

Pandathepanda:

Are you saying that the law doesn't state "the latter of" or "the earlier of," whichever comes later/sooner? At no spot? That seems exceedingly bizarre to me.

I mean...obviously in the case of the book you're discussing, it's PD, in either case, as it's after (either) 1973 or 1988, but "grey area" doesn't even come CLOSE to discussing what chaos could ensue on an author that lived in the middle of the last century and on a bit.

The lawyer said it doesn't have that clarification? Really? Wow.

South Africa is like that, Most cases like that end up in court, that is disputed, but then most cases like that end up being on a case by case bases

its normally settled on a case by case bases. THere is a joke here that copyright law was instituted in South Africa to keep America happy. in the late 1980's when Nintendo brought out the NES, Golden China brought their Pirate version of the NES to SA and sold it here, Nintendo got a court order to stop them from selling it, and no one really listened.

Our country is "so unique" that one of the insurance companies made a advert about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ViorVDgiiOg

Holy s**t.

We have that issue here (wells), and so as we have four houses that share one single (more commercial than residential--it's done this way up here in the mountain foothills all the time, in the more-rural areas) well, we instituted a reserve fund for it, just for this type of thing. I actually think--not that this makes it one iota better, KK--that your bids are on the lower side, for normal well-drilling.

YOWCH. Damn, no, I don't. Hell, I don't even know any lenders, period, not really. I wonder if you could do micro-lending?

Seriously, KK:

Just FYI, I wasn't being a wise-ass. I do micro-lending myself, here and there, usually in developing countries for female entrepreneurs, but lots of folks do (micro-lending). People, especially our fellow Americans, are actually pretty generous. Some type of crowd-raise, funding or lending, might be just the ticket.
