Let's all meet up over at the Mended Drum, I hear they rent almost new Guiness there.

Well, I fear darlings, that I cannot join you--unless I fib--at What's In Your Cup, for due to having waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many Irishmen in my genes (and the homonym, but that's a different discussion), I had to give up the demon rum some...26 years ago. Nary a drop may pass my lips, gents.

Which is probably why you see me RANTING here, instead of libating myself into somnolence instead. {sigh}. Although all the kind thoughts are GREATLY appreciated, and back when, the Guinness would have been, too, along with a lovely single-malt scotch. (No, no, not TOGETHER!)

Oh, ironic, "and now what?," when I decided to take a break, the night the monitor croaked, and read something--in lieu of booze, you see--I picked up my Fire and it gave me an error message, saying that "The Kindle reader app is not working," or somesuch. On an AMAZON device? Really? (A cold start seemed to fix that, but at that point, I started to fear leaving the house and stepping out near moving automobiles....)

'S'ok Hitch, you don't need CIA genes for that. Found myself in the same life raft 35 years ago and nary an Irish gene in the old bod. But it don't prevent me from stopping by the Mended Drum... Bill said it'd be OK if I had sufficient reason and a fit condition.

Now the Guinness; THAT, my dear is another matter.

The Mended Drum (then The Broken Drum) is, however, a location frequented by barbarian heroes, and on that occasion, the first ever "tourist", i.e. an insane man named Twoflowers. Do not ask. (Just see my avatar.)

I never said I was Rincewind.

Not saying whether I am or not, though. Although come to think of it, Rincewind was always most upset about the lack of any sort of scientific laws to make sense of the Disc, and suspected there was something "better than magic".

I really hate sites that have a strictly enforced "no bump" policy. I mean I can understand how multiple bumps can get really annoying, even disruptive, but just one in a busy forum where people might not have seen it the first time? Ugh...
