You could have tried it before updating to 5.8.10
I changed the introduction in the first post yesterday to cover your device running 5.8.10.

Hi there, fellows.

I have a question which might sound odd...

Is there, or have ever been another kind of Jailbreak?

I'll explain myself: I own a PW2, since 2 years ago or so, wich was jailbroken right out-of-the-box. I installed Kual and Koreader in order to handle epub books.
I don't remember anything about wich version, type, etc. of the jailbreak I used, but I'm almost certain that I followed a method from this forum.
I didn't upgrade my PW2 since then. And, silly me, two weeks ago I upgraded it to one of the cursed versions (5.8.9.2) and the magic stopped. I thought the jailbreak was suposed to survive, but maybe I had installed an old version of JB wich couldn't do it.

Kual remains present, I can navigate trough it, but nothing happens when I try to launch Koreader, for instance.

I tryied to check the status of the JB, with the method included in the first post, with no luck. I'm not able to trigger the test package ergo nothing happens.

I hope now my question is understood. I keep the hope that something can be done with my PW2, since a JB was present within it.

Any hint will be highly appreciated.

It did survive.
We never said that anything other than the jb survives, only that ONLY the jb survives.

Reinstall Mrpi and all hacks.

As I understand things, the jailbreak is what allows Mrpi and screen savers and all hacks to work. ONLY the jailbreak itself survives firmware upgrades. You must install all the subsequent pieces again after a firmware upgrade. If you haven't done the basic jailbreak before reaching certain versions, you are out of luck. (Unless/until other programmers come along and find a new jailbreak for us.)

We do not have anything that can be used by the general public.

We do hope to have something by the time any new Kindle models are released this fall.

I read that post, but it didn't clarify my doubt, which, btw, remains unsolved: Is it possible for me to have installed another jb different than this in my two years old pw2? Or this is the only one available in the scene? Because if this is the situation (only one jb possible), my device should be modificable again.

That's which most trouble me right now. If my jb did survive, I should be capable to get everything working again, but I'm not.
So yes, I reinstalled mrpi, and the few hacks I had but nothing seems to work.

That's how I understand it as well, and that's how I consecuently try to act to get everything working again. I had my pw2 jailbroken, so it should be a piece of cake to put things together again, but it's not how it's going for me.

To sum up:
-Is there a way to know if I'm still jailbroken? (Yes, I tried the first post method with no luck)
-Kual is installed and upgraded to last version, it opens but I don't know if it works or not. When I try to open an app, the screen blinks and returns to home screen. How do I act from here? What can I check?

Your jail break survived, iff you stayed away from the 'Reset' button.

The only thing that makes a jail break 'different' is the delivery vector.
The actual changes made on a touch screen device are identical.
You are in the correct place.
Translation:
You might have used a different method to install the jail break, but you installed the exact same jail break regardless of how you did it.
The above is true of all devices, all firmwares, since the K4(non-touch).
You are here, go no further, you have arrived, this thread is the current thread for touch screen devices.

Do these steps, just to be certain:

Download the package attached to this post:

Place it in the topmost level of visible USB storage -
(safely) Remove the USB cord -
Install it using UYK (this package is a sole exception to requiring MrPI to install packages).

Now re-install everything that seems to be broken.

Hey, I noticed that Hackerx posted regarding jailbreaking a PW3 on 5.8.9.0.1- I just upgraded to a PW3(G090G1) and wanted to jailbreak it, it is currently on 5.8.9.0.1 and I put it on airplane mode as soon as I took it out of the box, and I'm having the same problem that Hackerx initially had, in that typing ";installHtml" isn't working. Would you mind replying or PMing me with what you advised he try?

EDIT: After doing step 4, step 5 worked. Doing step 6 now.
