Lie you, I keep my brightness down and never had a problem with even the Forma screen, though I could see what people were talking about. The Sage screen is gorgeous and I can detect no issues, at least with the unit I was sent. My only wish is for this device without the buttons, which I don't use and don't need, but so it goes. Otherwise, I love the Sage.

You only need the portion of the URL specific to the video when using the Youtube function.

So far this latest reviewer is the only one to mention the brighter band for the Sage, and he commented that he doesn’t really notice it much even at 100% brightness. I’m not including the redditor because they said they manipulated the photo to exaggerate the effect, and it was a fairly bad photo regardless.

I've mentioned it too. The band is there and I think someone else from the forum also told they had it.

Less of a band and more of a halo, but, yeah, it's there. Much like with the Forma, it might be less visible when set up at your preferred brightness/warmth settings (but it's less pernicious than on the Forma, where you tended to *also* force the settings around diminishing its effects rather than your actual preferences ;p).

I think you’re thinking of whoever posted the Reddit post, though of course others then took that post and posted it in different threads.

But that’s still a good number of reviews via YT where it’s neither mentioned and/or not visible vs one or two people who’ve commented that it’s there. Which is better than the Forma lightsaber band.

I’m not saying your unit doesn’t have it, or that it doesn’t exist across them all (though it doesn’t seem to), just that at most light levels it’s not going to be noticeable especially compared to the Forma. And many people weren’t bothered enough by the Formas lighting issue to do anything about it.

I'll try to talk about it some more once I actually start reading on mine, but it was indeed much less of an annoyance than the Forma's during yesterday's KOReader porting experiments, especially once I swapped to settings closer to my Forma's (IIRC, brightness around 15%, and warmth at 60%).

No, I think one of the first one to get the Sage here also mentioned it, but was not bothered if I remember.

And as I said, it's not a big deal neither for me. When the front light is low, I barely notice it. The Libra 2 front light is more uniform though.

Any time someone says "Oasis" you make sure you tell people it is the worst ereader ever, or pockets and ereaders). You have made it clear that you think that the larger ereaders are not good. As are the smaller ones. And that buttons are terrible. But, don't worry, you are doing exactly what I expected. You suddenly change tack and now we'll be hearing how this new ereader is the best thing since sliced bread and anything else is rubbish. And you haven't even seen one to get a true impression of these new devices.

Dunno which Sage thread I originally posted in about Decalgirl and a skin for the Sage, but I’ll post the update here. I’m actually surprised they got back to me earlier today (Sunday) but I guess their social media person just checks in occasionally over the weekend (they’re listed as closed Sat/Sun)

I have this on our list now. We do not have an ETA on supporting it but they are aware of the suggestion! Thanks

So hopefully by the holidays we’ll see skins, maybe sooner. I’ll keep an eye out and post somewhere it’ll be seen when they release skins.
