OMG how am I to survive the suspense?
Trouble is, I want to hear this from someone using the Aura ONE in the official sleep cover. All my readers go in book style covers.

But covers do add some weight, and often do NOT have a grippy texture to the back. So I'm really hoping someone weighs in on just how the reader feels to hold one-handed in the Kobo sleep cover once it's out!

Makes me wonder how people managed to read BOOKS for centuries. You know, those heavy lumps of dead trees that open up to two mostly asymmetrical sides. Ugghh. The horror, the horror.

A photo of the reviewer's hand holding the ereader should be mandatory when making comments about the size of a device or the ability to use it with a single hand. Does the reviewer have small hands or hands that allow picking up a basketball one handed (what my mother used to call stranglers' hands)?

You can make that complaint about pretty much anything. The purpose of advancements in tech is to make our lives simpler, better or more fun.

It's OK to ask for upgrades. To want something better than you have. One of the things that's great about being human is that we can look at something and think, 'How can I improve this?' It's what we are!

My old Glo was originally advertised as having one month battery life, but even though it is almost four years old I still get about 40 hours reading per charge over the course of a week or so.
Back then, the battery life estimates were based on 1 / hr. per day.

Amazon changed to 30 min. per day, and Kobo shortly followed suit.

I would be interested in knowing what exactly, the reading time is expected in hours on the new Kobo. E-ink readers have, for the past several years, had battery life of 25 - 35 hours, (of course, this will vary greatly based on the number of pages turned, the type of content, (images and PDF's no doubt need more processor.) and the readers light intensity preference.)

If this new Kobo has 1200 Mha battery,, how does that compare to the H20 and Glo HD? I thought Kobo used a 2000 mha battery, but I'm going from memory, and might well be confusing with another device.

Halving the battery life ... I'm not sure it would be a deal breaker, but it would certainly impact how I use and perceive the reader during my occasional reading marathon's.. Neither Kobo's nor paperwhites have ever run dry on me, but I've certainly brought the meter down to a quarter.

Edit: Just popped the back off a Glo HD,, that one packs a 1500 mha battery. I guess the extra weight was just to much in testing..... with all the extra LED's, the one could have used a bit of a battery boost instead of reduction.

Painfully... Especially the trade paperbacks and hardcovers. Which is why I prefered mass market paperbacks. And why I switched to electronic devices as soon as they became available to me.

If weight is what you are concerned about, don't worry. The Aura One will be 10g lighter than the Aura HD!

I'm pretty excited about the yellow light. It's not as if I proposed it years ago...

I have and enjoy reading on my 8" tablet. I do hold it in one hand *though I use the other hand to turn the page.

It just occurred to me that the the Kobo One is like 100 grams lighter than my 8" tablet. That seems like a good justification to consider getting one....

Did it ever come to light whether it's a glass or plastic substrate?

I wonder how fragile the One will be? My Touch has had to put up with alot of wear & tear over the past several years but has coped admirably despite having no cover.

This thread seems to have died. No one got any reviews? Does seem odd there haven't been more in depth reviews yet, I suppose there is still over a week until launches though. Goodereader have a brief unboxing video up. It's looking like a dam sexy piece of ereader.

Well the pics and videos showing the device in a hand was very deceptive, no way to know exactly how large the hands were...
