Every time a new PW comes out there are the same complaints we're seeing here from what I remember.

There is not a normal, never has been never will be because ALL humans see differently.
So either adjust the lights where they don't bother you or get rid of the ereader and buy something else if the lights are that annoying to you.
You have made your agenda perfectly clear.
You still are having trouble understanding so I'll try to make it simpler. There are some of us who see the color gradient at ANY level of LED lighting. Others like you have trouble seeing it at anything other than max LED lighting. That's why we tell you to turn up the LED lights in a dark room so that you can finally see what we see all of the time on the Voyage and Oasis. Again, it's a crutch for you.

Under normal lighting, the cones are much less visible. Heck I can see gradients on my bedroom wall at night if I have the small lights around the ceiling on.

It is how ALL lights work.
It's true that the cones are less noticeable at a lower setting but I am more comfortable reading at a higher setting (14-15) and at that level they are very noticeable on my Oasis. This varies among devices and I believe some can't see the LED lights and shadows at all, but for those that have them, they can be distracting.

What a strange post.

Adjusting the lights to where colour gradient doesn't bother him is not an option if that level is too dim to make reading uncomfortable for him.

Therefore if a person sees the colour gradient at what constitutes normal light levels for them, they are justified in complaining about it.

"I am bothered by the fact that you complain" is not a valid response. Have some empathy.

I've never claimed that anyone else should dislike the Voyage and Oasis screens simply because myself and others can see color gradients on them. I was hoping that the color gradient problem that plagues every Voyage would have been fixed on the Oasis but that clearly isn't the case.

Those who were unable to see the problem on the Voyage are likely not to see it on the Oasis (though I would argue that a left-right gradient is more annoying than a top-down gradient) and those who could see the problem on the Voyage are likely to see it on the Oasis.

I think this is the point, totally. I'm totally with you on this. I see the gradient on my Voyage and it bothers me. It seems some people are arguing whether it exists or not even when others have taken photos to prove it does. And it bothers me people say photos show something that isn't there. If you can photograph it, it exists. If you can't see it when you use it, that's fantastic and I am totally envious.

For me, I just want to know if someone can offer evidence this isn't another manufacturing issue that will never be avoided, like the Voyage. Sounds like it will.

For my 2 cents, the waterproof nook glowlight plus has the most even lighting and I really wish Amazon could replicate that in their ereaders. Seems they don't think it's an issue.

I had empathy 2 weeks ago.
My point is if the lights to a person are uncomfortable then that device is NOT for them.
Return it and get something that works for you. (Generic you.)
So why is that person saying I am using a crutch?
But please keep telling everyone there is something wrong with the device because you (again generic) are perfect and everyone that doesn't see what you see is wrong.
If I cannot use a gadget/ device, I am not going to blame the device. I will figure that there is some physical reason that the device/gadget do not get along and find something that works better for me.

And I darn sure wouldn't be posting fake pictures to prove my point.

Ignorance is surely bliss for those who can't see the problems.

Why in the world would someone who had bought an expensive device and finds it comfortable to read adjust the light high enough for you to feel better about your perception?

What was that name of the no win scenario in Star Trek? Oh yeah.

You seem to have a real need for others to see what you see, even so far as to demand they turn up their brightness until it is uncomfortable for them. Seek help, fast.

Well then, here is one for you. My Voyage has no color gradient, or whatever that is called. It is even top to bottom, left to right.

My Oasis does have a gradient. So I can see it, yet there is none of my Voyage. Those are the facts.

I am keeping my Oasis as the level I am reading at, light at 10, I do not notice it most of the day. There are a couple of moments early morning, or in some dark hallway I can tell one side being what I call warmer, and the side to the buttons being cooler. But it is barely there. If I turn up the light to 12 or more, I can see it more and more. I don't need my light that high. At 14 it would really bother me. Again, too high for me to read, but someone that would notice it and needs the light that high, would maybe not be happy with it.

Although I was hoping the Oasis had a screen as even as my Voyage, everything else I love on it so I am keeping it. As I don't notice it really at light 10.

But yeah, I got lucky I guess with my Voyage. Its screen is perfect.

Only thing I noticed is that my Voyage gets a bit "dirty". What the heck is the term. Particles of previous lines of text leave a shadow behind until it refreshes again. That is something I do not have at all on my Oasis. My Oasis I counted didn't refresh til 50 page turns. . My Voyage did 12. I might be off one page or so. But that really surprised me. Oasis stays totally "clean" that way.

What's the subject of this thread again? Not sure why those who can't see any issues are even here. Hmmm
