I'm in a quandary about the Good and Cheap book. I had not bought the book (second edition, for $2.99) yet. It would be nice to save $3 by getting the free first edition pdf. I wish that I knew if there was that much difference between the first and second edition. Has anyone checked?

According to Goodreads, the first edition is 190 pages, while the second is 208. Not sure how many more recipes that accounts for.

Thanks. That's helpful. Assuming that the author didn't delete any, that would led someone to think that not much had been added (although there could be other explanations for the small difference in length, such as smaller fonts or something).

Thanks for the heads up. I had decided to make do with the first edition, but $1.99 was a price point that I could accept. It was still $1.99 when I checked after your message, so I grabbed it.

It's interesting that the folks responsible for such things dropped the price when the book was already marked down. Maybe too many people learned about the free first edition and so the newer book wasn't selling very well?

If you cannot find dulce de Leche in your local store, get a can of Eagle Brand Milk (not a store brand) and set it in boiling water unopened for 5 hours. Check the water periodically. Make sure the can stays completely covered.
