Emma Newman's The Split Worlds series is switching publishers, and the new publisher's edition of the first book is free at the moment, at Amazon US and Amazon UK. If you search the title instead you'll also hit the previous edition sans Kindle link.

I just finished Linda Nagata's "The Red" trilogy, which is quite good, and I've heard others talking about nominating it for the Hugo.

So, yes, but....

I tried one epub download and it was the usual for Internet Archive - rough OCR scan lacking illustrations. These If Magazine scans tend to lose the space between words - ugly!

I imagine some industrious individual will someday render usable epubs from these files, but it will be a LOT of work!

The pdfs are beautiful, of course, but at over 20M per you probably don't want to download the whole collection!

(Please forgive if this has been mentioned previously.)

Please do not ask for help to obtain unauthorised (aka pirated) copies of copyright works here. Doing so is likely to lead to a permanent ban from MobileRead.

I don't think the publisher has ever offered any of that series for free. Or if they did, I missed it.

I've found the Archive to be a decent place for PDFs (although I mostly go there for the live music recordings). The other formats are good raw material for doing your own clean-up. I think Project Gutenberg sometimes uses Archive scans as starting points for their own conversions.

The IFs aren't PD under US rules either. I dug up my notes for a bunch of the IFs I did for PG. There are renewals and UK authors in the first dozen or so I looked at. It might be a case where the successors to Galaxy Publishing Corp. posted them, but I have my doubts.
