I was under the impression that Amazon now made a clear distinction between their tablets and ereaders, calling the former no longer by the name Kindle Fire, but Amazon Fire or simply Fire, while returning the name Kindle to its original definition of a dedicated ereader. Hence, from the thread title, I was expecting some new ereaders.

I assume Yolina is referring to the fact that touch screens don't work without special gloves, and the Voyage page turn buttons will. I am assuming that these buttons actually respond to pressure, and not to touch...

Yes, winter, gloves, can't turn pages on the touchscreen. Annoying when waiting for a bus oh and when standing on the side of a bobsleigh track in minus stupid temperatures waiting for the race to start Could use my phone (Note 4 so large screen and stylus) but I don't like reading books on my phone.

There are other reasons one might be reading out in the weather.

Military personnel live and work out of doors much of the time.

In construction or the related trades materials can be defective or not shipped on time. The crew gets to a point on a job and some critical item is missing or defective. You can't do nothing, the job is on a schedule. In that instance you may send a truck to pick up material for something you can do from a local supplier and send a van back to the shop to exchange special tools you have for others you will need instead. Since this doesn't take the whole crew, several people are often left waiting for a few hours in a building that probably doesn't have plumbing or power yet.

When that was me left in a cold building on a frozen February day, I read.

First of all, Amazon CS responds not only to “loyal” customers but to everyone. Also, I think that by tech industry standards, this is not considered lying (although it may be morally), especially not “for the lulz”. If no new Kindles are being released, Amazon can tell people that they have been delayed “a bit” (and/or tell people that the CS rep spread wrong information).
The way I see it, Amazon will bring new models soon, but maybe not soon enough and needs to string people along a bit longer for them to not purchase “newer” devices from other vendors, especially considering that people who ask for these new models are interested in purchasing the latest and greatest (and wouldn’t go for last year’s models anyway). I think it's all about creating a little bit of hype for new Kindles...
Even if this isn’t the case, it is a valid option, over the top dismissive comments or not...

Buying a Kindle PW at Amazon.nl, which will forward me to Amazon.de (!), costs €142 (!).
Buying a Kindle PW at Amazon.com, costs €163, last time I looked.

That is a €23 and €21 price difference, a total of €44.

For me, it's best to go and buy the Kindle in a german store, as I live at the border.

How about a local Mediamarkt? They're for sale there too.

Or because you're waiting for your ride home (be it bus, train or automobile...) That's why I always have my BBMini, multiple page turn buttons, always one that will work with gloves on
