The next version of the builder includes a built-in metadata reader to eliminate the need for KindleUnpack (assuming it works in all cases *crosses fingers*). One of these days I'll get around to making it into an editor as well so instead of saying "hey your ASIN is wrong" it can say "hey your ASIN is wrong, what do you want it to be?"

Version 2.0.10 has been posted. Notable changes:
  • Metadata/rawml extraction is now done internally (thanks to KindleUnpack and the MobileRead wiki) so that (hopefully) KindleUnpack can be completely removed from future releases. There is a setting that you can enable if you want to use KindleUnpack when something goes wrong with the internal one. Let us know if you have trouble unpacking anything so we can improve it!
  • A setting for "download aliases" has been added (off by default). If checked, it will attempt to download aliases from a website if any exist for the book (will only overwrite if the "overwrite aliases" setting is checked). At the moment there aren't many available, but eventually I hope to have a decent selection. I started working on a site to accompany the feature, but my web dev skills are limited.
  • Added some switches that can be added to aliases. By using one of these values as the first (or only) alias, you can modify how the character is treated:
    • /d - Delete this term entirely. Good for when Shelfari has a term that you don't want added to the X-Ray, but don't want to remove it from Shelfari.
    • /n - Keep the term, but do not search for excerpts. Good for terms like 'Lady' in the Song of Ice and Fire books, where Lady is a direwolf's name but is used frequently throughout the book, giving incorrect excerpts.
    • /c - Characters are usually case-insensitive, this will make it sensitive. Good for terms that might show up and falsely match in other contexts. e.g. a character named Summer would incorrectly match on 'summer'.
    • Example: Khal Drogo|/i,Drogo
  • If you forgot to change the book's content type from PDOC to EBOK, this will now happen automatically when metadata is extracted.
  • Misc tweaks and fixes

When I try to build the Xray file on Windows 10, I get an Unhandled Exception Error dialog, saying Could Not Load File or Assembly 'System.Data.SQLite.dll"

That's weird, I'm on Windows 10 as well and it loads fine. I'm assuming the SQLite.dll was extracted to the same directory as the exe? Did 2.0.9 work on your Win10 system?

the new version woks fine while creating the xray files. But the xray still does not work the way it should work aka through word selection. it only works from the top. Any input on these Eph?

What is an example of a word you are trying to highlight that isn't working?

I added an alias file for your book to the server, try building again with 'download aliases' on and either delete the .aliases file for the book or turn on 'overwrite aliases/chapters'.

e.g The name of the wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I have converted to Mobi, Fixed ASin and all relevant data. I have created successfully created the Author profile, end actions, start actions and xray itself. But there are no aliases file. Though while creating the xray the program offer me : "Terms have been exported to an alias file or already exists in that file. Would you like to open the notepad for editing?".

To this I press NO. It sucessfully builds the xray files. which I drop into the sdr folder.

NOw, if i select "Graham" from teh top Xray button, I get an Xray, but when i select Graham from the text, nothing happens, only the usual wikipedia box is opened.

This is the issue.

Are you editing the aliases at all? If not, that's probably the issue. Doesn't hurt to hit "yes" when it asks to edit them, at the very least you can see if there were any on the server that were downloaded (if you have the option enabled).
Is the book The Name of the Wind? Someone hit the server for that book, so I built a proper alias file for it. If it's that one, you can either delete the .aliases file from the ext folder or turn on 'overwrite aliases/chapters' and it will download my aliases file and use it.

I can see the alias files in the ext folder. Where to put them on the kindle?

EDIT: I did again as you told. But the xray still does not pop up on selecting the word. It only can be accesses from the top button.

The alias file doesn't go on the Kindle, it is used to tell the builder what names match the character. If a character has a first and last name, it will only match when both names are used together, not individually. Characters that are just 1 word, like "Graham," should have worked no matter what though. Not really sure why you're running into issues with it; darrenmcg and I tested it on our Paperwhite 1s when we were putting together the last few versions and it worked fine. Probably need someone else with a PW2 or Voyage to test it and play around with it in case it's an issue unique to the firmware on those devices...

Could you please make the xray files for me to test on the PW2? PMd you the book link.

PS: I have a PW2 and would gladly test anything that you want. Please do let me know if there is anything that i may help you with..

If it's a PW2 issue I'm not sure what to advise you to test so it's a tough situation.
