Today's free ARe series showcase title is The Arrangement by Delaney Diamond, book one in the Hot Latin Men series.
Quote:
Brazilian millionaire, Leonardo da Silva, is still seething from when his African-American wife, Alexa, walked out on him four months ago. Now she’s in his office asking for a business loan to help her brother. Instead of a loan, he’s willing to give her the money, but only if she resumes her role as his wife for the next two months. She reluctantly agrees, and she soon finds herself wishing their arrangement was permanent. But when she finds out about Leonardo’s betrayal, there may be no way for them to mend their broken marriage.

Also free in this series is the prequel short-story to book four, The Ultimate Merger
Quote:
Two workaholics slow down long enough to find love when they least expect it.

Renaldo da Silva is on the verge of entering the U.S. market with the purchase of a hotel in downtown Chicago. After working hard for several days straight, he heads to a local bar and sees a woman who instantly makes him reconsider how to spend his evening.

When another one of her male counterparts unfairly becomes the lead on a project, Sabrina Porter leaves work intent on drowning her sorrows in wine and loud music at a local bar. Instead, she meets a sexy Brazilian who’s intent on showing her a different way to unwind.

The Ultimate Merger is a short story. It's the prequel to Second Chances, Book 4 of the Hot Latin Men series.

Today's Romance Daily Deal at Amazon are books 1-3 in the Parable, Montana Series by Linda Lael Miller for $1.99 each...

Big Sky Country
Quote:
The illegitimate son of a wealthy rancher, Sheriff Slade Barlow grew up in a trailer hitched to the Curly-Burly hair salon his mother runs. He was never acknowledged by his father…until now. Suddenly, Slade has inherited half of Whisper Creek Ranch, one of the most prosperous in Parable, Montana. That doesn't sit well with his half brother, Hutch, who grew up with all the rights of a Carmody—including the affections of Joslyn Kirk, homecoming queen, rodeo queen, beauty queen, whom Slade has never forgotten.

But Joslyn is barely holding her head up these days as she works to pay back everyone her crooked stepfather cheated. With a town to protect, plus a rebellious teenage stepdaughter, Slade has his hands full. But someone has to convince Joslyn that she's responsible only for her own actions—such as her effect on this lawman's guarded heart.

Big Sky Mountain
Quote:
With his rugged good looks, vast wealth and family name, hell-raiser Hutch Carmody is still the golden boy of Parable, Montana. But he's done some growing up—making peace with his illegitimate half brother and inheriting half of Whisper Creek Ranch, which should have been all his. These days, Hutch knows there are some things money can't buy: like the heart of loving, ladylike divorcée Kendra Shepherd.

Kendra's quiet mansion reminds her of what she wants most—a devoted husband and the pitter-patter of little feet. She can't get Hutch Carmody out of her mind. But a rough-and-tumble cowboy like Hutch, coming home for family dinner? Seems crazy! Then again, crazier dreams have become reality under the vast Montana sky.

Big Sky River
Quote:
Sheriff Boone Taylor has his job, friends, a run-down but decent ranch, two faithful dogs and a good horse. He doesn't want romance—the widowed Montanan has loved and lost enough for a lifetime. But when a city woman buys the spread next door, Boone's peace and quiet are in serious jeopardy.

With a marriage and a career painfully behind her, Tara Kendall is determined to start over in Parable. Reinventing herself and living a girlhood dream is worth the hard work. Sure, she might need help from her handsome, wary neighbor. But life along Big Sky River is full of surprises…like falling for a cowboy-lawman who just might start to believe in second chances.

The companion audiobooks for books one & two are $2.99 each and book three's is $3.49, when you own the Kindle edition.

Today's bargain Anne Stuart backlist book at Amazon US DE appears to be Against the Wind (first published by Candlelight in 1985).

Quote:
Puente del Norte -- the last place on earth Maddy Lambert had expected to find herself. Yet here she was in the middle of Central America in an embattled guerrilla camp on a mission impossible. She'd come to get her dying father, whose ideals had carried him far from home and won him the title of El Patron -- the Saint. She'd crossed a country at war only to be told that he didn't recognize her as his daughter... to find him guarded by the infamous Jake Murphy -- the man who'd stolen her girlish heart and still had the power to stir her deepest passions. Maddy, the rescuer, found herself in deadly danger. On Jake's orders she'd been taken prisoner. And as the air around her rang with intrigue and gunfire, she had little time to learn who was friend or foe, who the enemy was, and who the love was that she'd crossed a continent to find.

Yeah, I've got them on my To Buy List (fingers crossed the Kobo coupon codes are still good). They're doing a themed week.

I had a number of books I know I read back when I first purchased them in print that I had to guestimate dates for, but percentage wise it wasn't that many. I have read over 5000 books since 1989. (Not counting rereads). That total includes non-fiction. Not sure why I had started to keep track of the number of books I read every month, but I'm glad I kept it up over the years.

So now I have completed all of my wishlist projects (some of which I never even knew I wanted to do ). I have my Warehouse library with the name of the store(s) I purchased all of my books from with the untouched original versions of my books in case I ever need them. And my main Calibre library and the Vault library. My plan now is to always import new books to the Warehouse, clean-up the metadata as needed and then copy to either the main library or Vault. The only exception would be if it's a website freebie story (like Nalini Singh's slice-of-life newsletter stories or if an author posts an epilogue or deleted scenes on their wesbite of something) which I make an ePub from would go directly to the main library since they aren't from a store. I didn't add the various Silhouette/Harlequin on-line reads or the other Psy/Changeling short stories to the Warehouse either.

I know there are some books which I will probably clean-up in Edit Book when/if I reread them. But having done all of the Samhain titles, there are none I know have major issues.

My various library overhauls have taught me a lot. So even though they've been time consuming I am glad I've undertaken them all. But I'm ready to just be in maintenance mode and spend my time actually reading

Of course, I have to finish my taxes before I can start a new book, but I'm putting that off until tomorrow. (They're done, I just need to proof them. I'm not quite that bad of a procrastinator )

I also dusted and rearranged all of my book shelves yesterday. Even though I'm not reading much in print nowadays, I still have my keepers. I should probably cull my print TBR pile since it keeps falling over when the dog bumps it, but that's a project for another day.
Youmust be thrilled! Your project was much more herculean a task than mine, but I did finish just now. I got rid of over 2000 books! I've learned so many valuable lessons about grabbing everything free [won't do it again], and now I've started tagging new authors/freebies with a year and freebie tag so hopefully once or twice a year I can do a 'spring clean' through those much easier from now on. I've also learnt not to buy a book without it having quite a few reviews. When I was buying 'everything' that sounded good that was on sale for $1, I've ended up with probably a couple hundred books that the ratings are now considerably lower than when the book first came out.

I'm staying pretty stringent with my buying too, not falling for covers, checking GoodReads, and not buying any more in the series until I've read or at least sampled a couple of chapters in the first book.

Now I can get on with real life and start reading more this week. With all this culling I've only read 2 books this week and I'm having serious withdrawals!

I also wanted to thank everyone who shared codes with me that enabled me to finish my Mom's library. You guys are the best and I'm so appreciative of all of you.

Despite another coupon haul I only bought five books this week, nothing not already mentioned recently in the thread...

A few DNFs this week (including a 1990 re-release I didn't realise was a re-release until I started reading, hate when they don't note that!), but I did finally start the Kowalski series by Shannon Stacey with Exclusively Yours... 4 stars!

I didn't buy a lot, 3 box sets + 3 books.

Read:
  • Heat - R. Lee Smith - 4
It was good but extremely violent. Not anywhere in the same "couldn't put down" category as Gann but I will def be reading more from this author.
  • The King (BDB #12) - J.R. Ward - 3.5
There wasn't enough to the main story while there were 3 other story arcs. It seemed like each got about 25% of the book. It just seemed to jump around a lot more than usual.

Edit - There were actually 4 other story arcs in The King. Forgot about Wrath's parents.

Checking in.

I bought 7 books this week. The Anne Stuart books were on sale and may be still. Thanks to Mindwarp I was able to get the Judith French book I thought I had bought but didn't with my settlement credit from Kobo I also got Michele Albert books using a coupon I actually won myself. So now I have maybe 60 cents left of the settlement credit.

I read:

Over The Edge by Suzanne Brockmann (5 stars) I loved this one in the series. It has everything I love about romantic suspense and then some.

I am reading:

Out Of Control by Suzanne Brockmann: So far I am enjoying it.

I have to admit Candy Crush has been taking more of my reading time. I am on level 76 now. After 3 attempts to get on a normal sleeping schedule I have failed each time. I wont give up trying though. I am going to bed at noon now instead of 8AM so that's something right?

I think the "don't need all the freebies" is a lesson we all have to learn the hard way

And congrats on the culling

You said it! We all go through that lesson at one time or another. My problem is I would love to cull some of my books but why bother when they are still on the cloud. Organizing them is the next best thing.

I've so many unread books that I'm not buying many new books these days.
In fact, even when I'm in the mood to buy new books, I wind up reading something from my TBR pile. I guess it is good, since I have over 200 books in my TBR pile.
I did do a recent culling of books from 2009-2010 that I haven't read, and that I know I'm unlikely to read in the future. So now the TBR pile only contains books I want to read.

Oh. The first three books in Darynda Jones Reaper series is just 2.99 right now. No idea how long it lasts. ( Link is to Omnilit, since I'm lazy. Should be discounted at Amazon etc too.)

My reading taste change so I am not culling any books. Who knows I may (or someone in my family) might want to read the book in the future.

I am moving/changing how I have books in Calibre. My current libraries are
Books Read
Working On (adding Metadata, better cover, changing format)
Calibre (finished with mobi, epub format, has cover, metadata)

Then I copied all books from Calibre and if the same book has more than one folder with different (or same) format I am combining those folders. I am half way thru this. Total folders (not books) is: 8515
Total books added back in calibre 10153
Folders left to combine: 2433

Then I will make sure everything has metadata. Really want the tags since that is how I pick what I am reading.
