While listening to the WHO rep speak on the swine flu yesterday, the word "mitigation instead of containment." He explained the different methods, but somehow, "mitigation" does not seem to be the best word in this circumstance. Simply using "limiting the spread instead of containing the outbreak" seems to be much clearer, I think.

Did anyone else notice this awkward phrasing?

There should be a requirement (okay, nice request) that all words posted here include definitions, usage examples, and etymology (when possible).

the real question : Batrachomyomachia or Froschmäusekrieg : which is the better word ?? i think we should fight it out in a new poll. clearly there is nothing more important than determining a winner here.

As long as there's no option for "Waterfall" in the poll. I might get confused again
